Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Macotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Myles Newell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Macotti comes to the cage accompanied by Drown - Theory of a Deadman. Myles Newell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Macotti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Myles Newell!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Newell.
Newell just misses with a punch to the body.
A thudding body kick lands there by Newell!
Newell scores with a body shot.
Newell fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Macotti looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Newell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Newell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Newell throws a looping overhand right but Macotti ducks down to avoid it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Newell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Newell has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Macotti is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Macotti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Newell punishes Macotti's body with a nice straight punch.
Newell is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Macotti rather than just go for the knockout.

Macotti shoots in and bounces Newell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Newell is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Macotti works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Macotti is looking to take a break and control but Newell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Macotti passes to side control.
Macotti in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Macotti tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macotti has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Macotti goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Newell rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Macotti's guard! Nice work there by Newell!

Macotti is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Newell lands a couple of elbows.
Newell trying to control but Macotti is working from the bottom.
Macotti seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Macotti manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Newell manages to get himself to full guard.

Macotti has gone for a leg lock! Newell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Macotti's guard.

Newell lands a couple of digs.
Newell slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Newell tries to score with some ground and pound. Macotti controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The strikes coming from Newell are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Macotti gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Newell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Macotti manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Newell manages to get himself to full guard.

Macotti wants to pass the guard but Newell is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Newell doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Newell has momentary wrist control but Macotti slips an elbow through the middle.
Macotti tries to free his leg and advance position but Newell is retaining full guard.
Newell is trying to control the position but Macotti postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Myles Newell will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Macotti is looking to clinch but Newell is avoiding it.
Macotti avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Newell throws a leg kick but Macotti sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Newell lands a really nice looking cross but Macotti seems unphased.
Macotti tries to clinch up.
Macotti fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Newell avoids it really well and circles away.
Newell swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Newell throws a leg kick which misses Macotti's front leg but catches the back leg as Macotti tries to avoid it.
Newell circles away from the clinch attempt.
Newell attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newell lands with a shot to the body.
Newell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Macotti moves away.
Macotti misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Newell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Newell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Macotti manages to avoid it.
Newell swats away the attempt to clinch by Macotti.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A chopping leg kick lands by Newell.
An inside leg kick from Newell misses.
Macotti takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Newell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Newell is working Macotti over with some ground and pound from side control.
Newell cracks Macotti with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The ground and pound from Newell seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Macotti takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Newell lands a decent elbow from side control.
Macotti misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Newell tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Macotti wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Macotti manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Newell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Macotti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Macotti is pressing down on Newell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Newell postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Newell throws a sloppy strike and Macotti has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Newell is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Macotti!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Marco Macotti!
A very excited looking Marco Macotti made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
