Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Hayabusa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Woleman! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woleman scores with a takedown into Hayabusa's guard. Woleman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Woleman controlling from the top position. Woleman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Woleman looking to pass the guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Woleman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Woleman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hayabusa keeping full guard, as Woleman tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woleman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hayabusa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Woleman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hayabusa moves away. Woleman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hayabusa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hayabusa gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hayabusa wants to control but Woleman is keeping busy.
Woleman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hayabusa knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woleman trying to control from half guard but Hayabusa is working away. Hayabusa wants to get back to his feet.
Woleman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Woleman thows a huge punch but Hayabusa dodges it nicely.
Hayabusa pushes Woleman off looking to stand but Woleman dives back in and keeps control.

Woleman throws a series of punches but Hayabusa moves out of range. Woleman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Hayabusa keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Woleman shoots for a double leg takedown but Hayabusa sprawls well. He's pushed Woleman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hayabusa wants to clinch up but Woleman keeps it at a distance. Woleman scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Woleman with a poor takedown and Hayabusa moves into the clinch. Ryu Hayabusa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Woleman. Woleman is trying to break the clinch but Hayabusa has him pressed against the ropes. Hayabusa misses with a knee to the head. Hayabusa gets control of Woleman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hayabusa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woleman tries to free his leg and advance position but Hayabusa is retaining full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Woleman trying to control but Hayabusa is working from the bottom. Hayabusa trying to control the position.
Hayabusa scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Woleman throws a combination that misses and Hayabusa counters with a head kick. Woleman throws a head kick but Hayabusa moves out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Woleman blocks a head kick by Hayabusa.
Woleman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hayabusa circles away. Hayabusa misses with a takedown attempt and Woleman counters with a lovely shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mark Woleman will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Hayabusa tries to clinch but Woleman is having none of it. Woleman goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Hayabusa tries to clinch there but Woleman circles away.
Woleman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hayabusa tries to avoid it but Woleman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hayabusa to the ground. Hayabusa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Woleman swinging wilding here.
Jab, jab by Woleman - just one landing. Hayabusa shoots in looking for a takedown. Woleman tries to sprawl out of it but Hayabusa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Woleman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hayabusa closes the distance looking to clinch and Woleman counters with a nice body kick. Hayabusa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ryu Hayabusa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hayabusa throws a head kick that misses. Woleman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Woleman drops an elbow to the side of Hayabusa's head. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Ground and pound from Woleman. Woleman missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hayabusa is trying to stand up here but Woleman is controlling him well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Woleman stalling. Hayabusa is defending against the submission attempts here by Woleman.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hayabusa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Woleman.
Woleman thows a leg kick but Hayabusa checks it and Hayabusa counters with a body kick that stops Woleman in his tracks momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woleman has managed to clinch.
Woleman blocks an elbow strike. Hayabusa pushes off an throws an elbow but Woleman leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes. Hayabusa using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Woleman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Woleman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hayabusa clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Woleman wants to control but Hayabusa is keeping busy. Hayabusa has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Woleman has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Hayabusa. Hayabusa staying busy and making it hard for Woleman to control. Woleman lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Hayabusa.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hayabusa wants to control his opponent's hands but Woleman gets his hands free. Woleman landing with strikes. Woleman lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Woleman.
Woleman is controlling the position but Hayabusa somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Woleman is keen to just control but Hayabusa is a slippery customer. Woleman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Woleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Woleman shoots in but no luck this time. Woleman throws a nice looking combination but Hayabusa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Woleman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hayabusa tries to clinch up and Woleman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Hayabusa is refusing to be controlled, as Woleman sits in half guard. Woleman slips a nice elbow through Hayabusa's hands, connecting with Hayabusa's forehead. Woleman is pressing down on Hayabusa's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hayabusa is holding on for now. Woleman is tying to control. Hayabusa wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woleman throws a strike but Hayabusa avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Woleman is trying to land a reversal but Hayabusa doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Hayabusa is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Woleman! Woleman trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Hayabusa!
