Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Weffart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pablo Jr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andrew Weffart! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weffart throws a nice looking combination but Jr bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Weffart shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jr pinned against the cage. Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jr tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Weffart manages to circle out of the way. Weffart fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jr closes the distance and pushes Weffart back into the cage. A frustrated look appears on Weffart's face as he tries to break the clinch. Jr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weffart uses from the top position. Jr controls Weffart momentarily but Weffart frees himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jr lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weffart had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jr defends it easily. Jr won't allow Weffart to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jr postures up.
Jr throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Weffart looking for subs off his back but Jr has passed one foot through into half guard.
Weffart regains full guard. Nicely done. Weffart is looking for a triangle but Jr pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Weffart tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jr looking to pass the guard. Jr trying to control but Weffart is working from the bottom. Jr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Weffart has his foot on Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jr works his way back into a safe position though. Weffart doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Jr wants to control from the top but Weffart keeps moving. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Jr stands up and waves to Weffart to follow him. Weffart displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jr.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weffart tries to clinch but Jr is having none of it. Weffart gets in close and instigates a clinch. Weffart is looking for a takedown. Pablo Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Weffart. Weffart has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jr after a bit of a struggle. Weffart trying to control the position but instead, Jr has worked for underhooks and has pushed Weffart into the cage. Weffart pulls guard successfully.
Weffart looks winded! Jr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Jr fails with the takedown. Weffart lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jr fails to land the takedown. Jr fails with the takedown. Weffart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jr but Jr pushes him off and we're back to square one. Jr wants to clinch up but Weffart keeps it at a distance. Jr changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Weffart tries to avoid it but Jr manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Weffart to the ground. Weffart escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Weffart throws a head kick but Jr moves out of range.
Jr fails with the takedown. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jr tries to close the distance and clinch but Weffart swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Weffart shoots in but no luck this time. Jr wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. A momentary lapse in concentration from Jr enables Weffart to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jr manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andrew Weffart dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Weffart fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jr, pushing him back against the cage. Jr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Weffart's efforts to push away. Jr prevents the takedown attempt.
Jr manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Weffart passes Jr's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jr looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Weffart pushes past his half guard into mount! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Weffart cracks Jr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jr tries to hold on but Weffart pushes him away. Weffart pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jr working to try and regain half guard.
Weffart tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Weffart prevents Jr from getting the reversal. Weffart raining down hammerfists from mount. Weffart landing strikes, looking to finish! Weffart postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jr looks a forlorn figure.
Jr in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Weffart in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Weffart with good strikes from the mount here! Weffart controlling from mount. Weffart working the ground and pound effectively.
Jr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Weffart get's back to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Weffart throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Weffart fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jr sprawls well initially but Weffart persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Weffart prevents Jr from improving his position. Jr is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Weffart in particular looking to stall. Weffart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jr is just riding it out for now. Weffart eventually gives up the hold. Jr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Weffart moves into full mount! Jr won't be happy about that! Jr sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Weffart stands up from half guard. Weffart lands with a slapping head kick. Andrew Weffart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Weffart closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jr did well to prevent Weffart getting side control. Weffart wants to pass to mount but Jr is defending the position. Weffart stalling. Weffart in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jr tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Weffart!
