Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kerry Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashid Nezhmetdinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rashid Nezhmetdinov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nezhmetdinov uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Larson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Larson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nezhmetdinov gets full guard.
Nezhmetdinov is trying to keep Larson in close.
Nezhmetdinov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nezhmetdinov pulls Larson in close to prevent any damage.
Nezhmetdinov wants to sweep here but Larson controlling him for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nezhmetdinov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Larson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Larson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nezhmetdinov to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Larson thows a huge punch but Nezhmetdinov dodges it nicely.

Nezhmetdinov is bucking up trying to escape but Larson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nezhmetdinov tries to hold on but Larson pushes him away.
Larson prevents Nezhmetdinov from getting the reversal.

Nezhmetdinov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Larson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Larson tries to move into range but Nezhmetdinov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Nezhmetdinov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rashid Nezhmetdinov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nezhmetdinov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Larson shoots in for a takedown but Nezhmetdinov shows good takedown defense.

Nezhmetdinov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Larson is trying to defend but Nezhmetdinov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Nezhmetdinov. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Nezhmetdinov is nestled in close to Larson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well Nezhmetdinov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
