And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Samuels!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Samuels has managed to clinch.
Suarez pushes off an throws an elbow but Samuels leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Samuels on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Suarez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Suarez swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Samuels has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Suarez after a bit of a struggle.
Suarez with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Suarez tries a knee to the head but Samuels blocks it.
Suarez misses with a knee to the head.

Samuels pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Samuels closes the distance and clinches.
Samuels avoids a wild elbow strike from Suarez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Suarez.


It looks like Luke Samuels has been cut.
With the fighters up against the cage, Suarez throws an elbow but misses.
Samuels jumps guard but Suarez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Suarez tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Samuels is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Suarez to keep the fight standing.
Sammy Suarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Samuels.
Suarez has Samuels pressed against the cage, preventing Samuels from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Samuels blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The referee is keeping an eye on Samuels - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Samuels has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Suarez regains guard immediately.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Samuels works over Suarez with some ground and pound from guard.

Samuels gets to his feet. Suarez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Suarez lands a shoulder strike.
Suarez unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Suarez throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Samuelss head.
Suarez misses with a knee to the head.
Suarez with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Samuels stalling.
Samuels takes a knee to the side of the body.
Samuels looks winded!

Suarez lands with a short shot to the head.

Suarez lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Samuels backwards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suarez lands a damaging elbow.
Suarez has Samuels pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Samuels is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Suarez - that's hurt Samuels badly! Oh, another knee lands and Samuels is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Samuels doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Sammy Suarez!
