Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Virgil Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Virgil Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Jackson misses.

Jackson's corner calls for a 1-2. Jackson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

It looked like Morgan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Morgan wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Morgan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackson has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

and Morgan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morgan as he avoids it easily.

and Morgan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Morgan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jackson.

Morgan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Jackson shoots in and bounces Morgan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Morgan has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

and Morgan counters with a slapping leg kick.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Morgan throws a quick counter kick to the body but Jackson avoids it.

Jackson clinches up with Morgan and pushes him back against the cage.

Jackson blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Morgan misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Morgan.

Morgan digs a right hand underneath Jackson's ribcage. Jackson let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Jackson lands with a left to the head.
Morgan blocking some punches.
Jackson tries to land knees in the clinch but Morgan avoids the damage to the body.
Morgan struggles to land a body shot inside as Jackson controls his hands.
Jackson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Morgan is defending well for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Donnie Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Morgan.
Jackson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jackson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Virgil Morgan.
Well Morgan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Virgil Morgan rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
