Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lucky Day!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Freitas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Day lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Day fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Freitas on the side of the head.

Freitas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard.
Freitas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Freitas tries to free his leg and advance position but Day is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Freitas looks winded!

Freitas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Day has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Freitas has managed to get both his arms back between Day's legs - danger averted.
Freitas wants to get up but he can't break Day's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Day looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Day is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Day keeping moving, preventing Freitas from controlling successfully.

Day throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Day working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Freitas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Freitas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Day has his foot on Freitas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Freitas works his way back into a safe position though.

Day working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Freitas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Freitas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Day has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Freitas should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Day has tightened it up now! Freitas should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
