PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zizor Dman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Mcdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zizor Dman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Mcdonald!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dman fails with a takedown attempt.

Dman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dman wants to control for a moment but Mcdonald uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Dman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mcdonald's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcdonald is looking to improve his position.

Dman seems to be working for a kimura but Mcdonald defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcdonald regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Dman.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mcdonald tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mcdonald pulls Dman in to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mcdonald wants to stand but Dman is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcdonald sprawls well. Mcdonald wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dman gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zizor Dman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dman gets tackled into the cage by Mcdonald. Mcdonald maintains the clinch.

Dman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mcdonald misses with a wild combination.
Dman fails with the takedown.
It seemed like Mcdonald was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Mcdonald misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dman half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Dman shoots in but no luck this time.

Mcdonald closes the distance and pushes Dman back into the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mcdonald just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dman's brow.
Mcdonald avoiding damage as Dman throws knees to the body.

Dman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mcdonald gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mcdonald decides to pull guard.

Mcdonald wants to sweep but no luck.
Dman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mcdonald is proving hard to escape from.
Mcdonald is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcdonald frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Dman tries to hold on but Mcdonald pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dman in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Mcdonald dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nice sprawl there from Mcdonald as Dman shoots in.
Dman looks to land a combination but Mcdonald avoids it well.
Mcdonald wants to counter with a clinch but Dman pushes him away.
Dman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mcdonald as he avoids it easily.
Mcdonald throws a wild body kick that Dman sees coming a mile off.
Dman is looking for a counter combo.

Mcdonald throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dman was covering up waiting for the punch and Mcdonald finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mcdonald has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mcdonald drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dman dives on top into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcdonald is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcdonald on the ground.

Dman looking to sit in guard and control but Mcdonald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mcdonald trying to control the position from guard on top but Dman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mcdonald's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mcdonald wants to control from the top but Dman keeps moving.
Dman is trying to control the position but Mcdonald postures up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcdonald is controlling him.
Dman looking to control but Mcdonald passes into half guard.
Dman is not content to let Mcdonald control the position.
Mcdonald slows the pace down in half guard.
Dman is refusing to be controlled, as Mcdonald sits in half guard.

Dman is defending against the submission attempts here by Mcdonald.
Mcdonald looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Mcdonald is pressing down on Dman's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dman is holding on for now.
Dman trying to control here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcdonald was covering up waiting for the punch and Dman finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dman is stalling in the full guard.
Dman trying to control but Mcdonald is working from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mcdonald looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alan Mcdonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Mcdonald stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mcdonald wants it to stay on the feet.
Mcdonald takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Dman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Mcdonald has taken the fight to the clinch.

Dman successfully pulls guard.
Mcdonald wanted to stand there but Dman had control of the position.
Dman has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mcdonald has passed into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mcdonald scores with a couple of short elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dman prevents Mcdonald from moving into mount.
Dman tries to improve position but can't.
Mcdonald tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Mcdonald is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dman is not content to let Mcdonald control the position.

Dman is looking to regain half guard here but Mcdonald keeps moving and retains side control.
Mcdonald working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Mcdonald lands a nice forearm strike.

Mcdonald tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Dman struggling a bit here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mcdonald wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dman, who protects the arm well.

Mcdonald looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mcdonald is chipping away with strikes.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Mcdonald's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Dman stops Mcdonald from passing to mount.
Mcdonald landing a few strikes.
Zizor Dman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Alan Mcdonald is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Mcdonald has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
