Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jig Beckley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Patterson! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patterson closes the distance and clinches up with Beckley, looking for a takedown. Patterson pushes Beckley against the cage but Beckley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Beckley keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Beckley lands a nice shot to the body.
Beckley lands a jab to the nose. Beckley scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Horrible takedown attempt by Patterson or perhaps it was just good defense by Beckley, which made it look bad. Beckley appears to be looking for a big counter. Patterson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Beckley.
Sloppy strikes from Patterson. Those never looked like landing. Beckley goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Beckley lands a jab to the head.
Patterson misses with a takedown attempt and Beckley counters with a crisp one two that drops Patterson! Beckley thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Patterson to his feet! Patterson is in big trouble!
Patterson is rocked! Jig Beckley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Patterson. Beckley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Patterson is still in real trouble! Can Beckley finish him? Patterson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Beckley tries to stand but Patterson controls the position and pulls Beckley into his guard. Beckley wants to stand but Patterson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beckley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beckley is looking to stand up but Patterson won't let him. Patterson seems to have recovered his senses. Patterson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beckley defends well. Beckley is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Patterson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Patterson has escaped and now he's on top! Patterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Beckley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Beckley looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Patterson has picked Beckley up and slammed him! Beckley can't keep hold of the triangle and Patterson manages to pass to side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson controlling from side mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beckley can't do much from the bottom here. Beckley is not content to let Patterson control the position. Beckley is trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beckley is working hard here to advance position. Patterson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Patterson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Patterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Beckley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Patterson advances to full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Patterson thowing shots but they're missing. Patterson has control of Beckley's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Beckley regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Beckley is squirming around, avoiding Patterson's attempts to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jig Beckley dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Beckley scores with a decent looking hook. Beckley connects with a jab. Good standup being displayed there by Patterson as he connects with a hook. Jig Beckley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Patterson clinches up with Beckley and pushes him back against the cage. Patterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jig Beckley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice sprawl there from Beckley as Patterson shoots in. Patterson shoots in for a double leg but Beckley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Beckley scores with a sloppy right hand. Patterson should have avoided that one. Patterson wants to clinch up but Beckley keeps it at a distance. Beckley throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Patterson walks into a left hand. Beckley scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Patterson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Beckley. Patterson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson has a closed guard, preventing Beckley from standing up. Jig Beckley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Beckley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Beckley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patterson on the ground. Patterson controls Beckley momentarily but Beckley frees himself. Beckley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Beckley makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Patterson looking to control.
Patterson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beckley defends it easily. Beckley throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Patterson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Beckley. Patterson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Beckley throws a strike but Patterson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Patterson wants to control from the top but Beckley keeps moving. Beckley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Beckley tries to get out of the position. Patterson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Beckley is keeping the position for now. Beckley is looking to sweep but instead, Patterson has passed into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beckley keeps working.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Patterson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Beckley circles away quickly and effectively. Beckley swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Beckley swats away the attempt to clinch by Patterson. As Patterson looks to move away, Beckley throws a big counter combo bu Patterson just gets out of the way. Beckley fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Patterson on the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson blocks the body kick.
Beckley wants to slow Patterson down by chopping away at his legs. Patterson moves in looking to clinch but Beckley pushes him off. Beckley misses with a low kick. Beckley digs a good body shot into Patterson's ribs. Beckley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Beckley seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Beckley bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Beckley attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Beckley misses with a series of wild punches.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Beckley throws a series of punches but Patterson avoids them all with ease. A looping hook to the body misses from Patterson. Beckley does a little dance to reset his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jig Beckley dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Beckley throws a low kick, looking for Patterson's leg but Patterson calmly moves out of range. Jig Beckley is winning the standup battle so far. Beckley shoots in and drives through. Patterson sprawls well. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Beckley!
Beckley looks for the body kick but Patterson saw that one coming. A jab from Beckley misses. Patterson feints the counter takedown. Patterson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Beckley.

Beckley changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Beckley ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Patterson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beckley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Beckley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Patterson moves into the clinch successfully.
Patterson jumps guard but Beckley turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Jig Beckley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Patterson. Beckley lands with a short head shot on the inside. Patterson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Beckley dives in and scores a takedown into Patterson's guard. Beckley is looking to work some ground and pound but Patterson has wrist control. Patterson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Patterson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patterson is trying to keep Beckley in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beckley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Beckley pinned against the cage. Beckley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Patterson tries to clinch there but Beckley circles away.

Beckley throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Beckley lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Beckley tries to bum rush Patterson with a series of wild strikes but Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. No joy there for Beckley, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beckley throws a combination. Patterson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Patterson wants to clinch up but Beckley keeps it at a distance. Beckley thuds a left hand into Patterson's body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Patterson pushes Beckley up against the cage in a clinch. Patterson drags the fight down to the ground.
Patterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Patterson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Patterson seems to be working for a kimura but Beckley defends the submission attempt. Frank Patterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jig Beckley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Patterson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that's the end of the fight! Jig Beckley showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beckley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Jig Beckley! In his post fight interview, Jig Beckley started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
