Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Rothko ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
37 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dallas Riley! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rothko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Riley swivels and escapes. Rothko with a lazy takedown attempt and Riley counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rothko breaks the clinch.
Rothko closes the distance and pushes Riley back into the cage. Rothko struggles to land a body shot inside as Riley controls his hands.
Riley fails to pull guard.
Riley can't break the clinch.
Riley is trying to push Rothko away but Rothko has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Rothko taking a breather. Riley will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Rothko up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rothko is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Riley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rothko uses from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rothko with a flurry of punches that miss. Riley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rothko is one step ahead there. Riley keeping moving, preventing Rothko from controlling successfully. Riley looking to control.
Rothko trying to control the position from guard on top but Riley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rothko throws a big right hand that misses. Riley working for submissions but it's allowed Rothko to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rothko prevents Riley from improving his position. Rothko trying to mount his opponent but Riley defends it. Riley tries to kick Rothko off but Rothko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Rothko not landing any meaningful shots this time. Riley wants to sweep but Rothko has passed to side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley tries to improve position but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rothko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Riley forces Rothko back against the cage and clinches. Riley breaks from the clinch.
Rothko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Riley but Riley pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Rothko . That's going to take a lot out of him. Riley lands with a good body shot. Riley tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rothko wants to control but Riley is keeping busy.
Riley landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Rothko trying to hold on to Riley's head to control him but Riley postures up.
Riley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rothko does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rothko is trying to stand back up but Riley is controlling him

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Riley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rothko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Rothko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rothko wants to control but Riley is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dallas Riley dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rothko looks for a takedown but Riley sprawls well. Rothko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Riley but Riley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Riley looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Riley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rothko fails with a takedown attempt. Rothko moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromRiley. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Rothko . That's going to take a lot out of him. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riley is defended easily by Rothko . We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Riley lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rothko pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rothko is looking to sweep but instead, Riley has passed into half guard.
Rothko is trying to maintain the position but Riley is very close to passing his half guard. Rothko is staying active underneath Riley, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Riley trying to control the pace. Rothko tries to get to full guard but Riley has control of the leg. Riley is pressing down on Rothko 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rothko is holding on for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rothko taking some punishment here, with Riley in his half guard. Riley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rothko 's head. Riley wants to take a breather but Rothko is having none of it. Rothko wants to get back to full guard. Riley not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Riley has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Riley is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley rushes Rothko and presses him up against the cage. Rothko misses with a knee to the head. Rothko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Riley gets the takedown into side control. Rothko is looking for a sweep. Riley trying to control the position but Rothko is working away. Rothko is trying to control Riley's posture but Riley avoids it. Riley is staying tight to Rothko 's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Rothko 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Riley tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rothko 's legs. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Rothko is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Riley doesn't manage to clinch there - Rothko circles away.
Rothko shoots in and drives through. Riley sprawls well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dallas Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Rothko rushes Riley and presses him up against the cage. Riley is trying to pull guard but Rothko turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Rothko breaks the clinch.

Riley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rothko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rothko is trying to keep Riley in close.

Riley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rothko . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Riley trying to control but Rothko is working from the bottom. Rothko working for a triangle but Riley defends it easily.
Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rothko swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rothko gets caught napping as Riley dives in and scores a takedown. Rothko manages to retain guard. Rothko wants to get back to his feet but Riley is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Riley controls from within his opponent's guard. Rothko seems keen to control Riley's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rothko keeping moving, preventing Riley from controlling successfully. Riley trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rothko 's guard. Riley postures up.
Rothko is trying to hold Riley in close to prevent damage but Riley has managed to pass into half guard.
Rothko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Riley is working away from the top position though. Riley trying to control the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Riley wants to advance to full mount but Rothko doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Riley passes Rothko 's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Riley wants to free his trapped foot but Rothko is holding on for dear life with his legs. Riley trying to control the action but Rothko is working from the bottom. Walter Rothko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Dallas Riley is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Riley keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
