Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergio Aguilar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Hall! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aguilar scores with a punch to the head. Aguilar ducks under a wild hook from Hall. Aguilar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Hall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aguilar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Hall lands a right hook to the body.
Hall drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hall misses with a leg kick and Aguilar counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Hall throws a leg kick and Aguilar counters with a stiff right hand. Aguilar connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hall momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall throws a leg kick and Aguilar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hall's guard. Hall has his foot on Aguilar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aguilar works his way back into a safe position though. Aguilar tries to free his leg and advance position but Hall is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hall pulls Aguilar in close to prevent any damage. Aguilar looking to pass the guard. Aguilar content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguilar trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Hall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hall lands with a thumping leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hall.
Aguilar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hall counters with a right hand to the body. Aguilar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguilar looks to throw the jab but Hall is out of range. Hall misses with a left hand and Aguilar counters with a series of strikes. Hall will be more careful next time no doubt. Hall misses with a leg kick. Hall throws a hook but Aguilar blocks it. Aguilar swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Aguilar takes a jab right on the kisser.
Aguilar moves out of range of the body kick. It looked like Aguilar wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Hall throws out a token jab with nothing on it. We've been told by Aguilar's head coaches at SWF GYM - JUDO 'n' MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Hall lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hall pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Hall lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hall swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hall avoids the body shot from Aguilar.
Hall throws the left hand but Aguilar avoids the punch easily. Aguilar misses with a hook
and Aguilar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hall looks to land a body kick but Aguilar moved away. Aguilar was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Hall lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Hall swings widly with a right hand
and Aguilar counters with a lovely straight right hand! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Justin Hall will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A swing and a miss from Aguilar. Aguilar dodges the punch combination from Hall.
Aguilar tries to counter with a takedown but Hall is quick to defend against it. Jab from Hall. Hall feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Aguilars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Decent striking displayed by Hall there. Justin Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice jab there from Aguilar. Hall misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Aguilar counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall tries to land a body kick and Aguilar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hall misses with the body kick and Aguilar counters with a lovely straight right hand! Hall throws a head kick but Aguilar moves out of range.
Hall is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Aguilar. Hall throws a body shot but no joy. A slow jab from Aguilar misses its intended target. Hall misses with a straight right. Aguilar is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Aguilar throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hall sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguilar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hall feints a counter leg kick. Hall pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. It looked like Aguilar wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Hall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hall is working for a submission of some sort.
Aguilar desperately trying to maintain half guard. Aguilar is looking to control Hall's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aguilar avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguilar regains full guard. Nicely done. Hall postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguilar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hall is keeping the position for now. Aguilar is working hard here to advance position. Hall keeping moving, preventing Aguilar from controlling successfully. Hall has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Aguilar forces his way into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Aguilar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Justin Hall will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Donk. Hall catches Aguilar right on the button with a cross. Hall lands a nice hook to Aguilar's body. Aguilar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Aguilar takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hall looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aguilar! Aguilar is looking to regain half guard here but Hall keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall working the ground and pound. Aguilar gets back to half guard. Hall winds up and cracks Aguilar with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Aguilar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Aguilar trying to keep a closed guard but Hall is proving a slippery customer.
Aguilar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hall is aware though and is defending well. Hall wants to pass the guard but Aguilar is keeping the position. Aguilar throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hall uses it to pass to side control.
Sergio Aguilar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Justin Hall is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Justin Hall has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguilar wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! You can see the frustration on Aguilar's face as Hall controls the position. Aguilar is trying to improve his position. Hall wants to control but Aguilar is keeping him busy. Aguilar tries to buck Hall off but Hall is having none of it. Hall has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hall prevents Aguilar from escaping the position. Hall staying calm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguilar is looking for a sweep. Aguilar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hall asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Aguilar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hall's waist but Hall gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aguilar off to one side. Hall is looking to slow Aguilar down with leg kicks. Aguilar misses with a right hand and Hall counters with an outside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguilar throws a sloppy body shot
and Hall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Aguilar chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hall can pounce on him.
Hall moves out of range of the strikes. Aguilar throws an off balance right hand
and Hall counters with a solid body kick. Hall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Aguilar went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Justin Hall seems to be getting the better of the standup. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hall feints and as Aguilar raises his hands in defense, Hall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Justin Hall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
