Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darren Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Cannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Cannon looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Cannon! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Francis DeMontford and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Cannon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Martin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Cannon is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cannon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Martin blocking some punches.

A short uppercut from Cannon. Cannon is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Martin pulls guard. Martin punching from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cannon is fighting to break Martin's control of his arms but Martin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Martin wants to get back to his feet but Cannon is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin seems keen to control Cannon's posture. Cannon stopping the sweep attempt from Martin. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cannon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Martin keeping moving, preventing Cannon from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Horrible takedown attempt by Martin or perhaps it was just good defense by Cannon, which made it look bad. Cannon steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Martin. Martin walks into a left hand. Martin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. George Cannon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cannon scores with a sloppy right hand. Martin should have avoided that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martin misses with a double jab
and Cannon counters with a left to the body. Cannon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Martin to score an easy takedown into full guard. Martin landing some decent shots from guard. Martin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Martin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Martin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cannon has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle.
It looks like George Cannon has been cut. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cannon can do anything to dispel that myth. Martin stays in close to Cannon's body and controls the position. Martin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Martin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Martin scoring with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Martin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Cannon looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cannon looks winded! Cannon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Martin controls the pace. Martin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Martin cracks Cannon with a solid left hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Martin drops back looking for a leg! Cannon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cannon manages to kick Martin off! Martin jumps back into Cannon's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Darren Martin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on George Cannon's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Nice defenses there by Cannon. Martin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Cannon is looking for the big counter here. Cannon scores with a crisp jab that stopped Martin in his tracks. Cannon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Martin paws at him with a jab and circles away. Martin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cannon to score with a decent uppercut. Cannon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice takedown defense from Cannon. No joy for Martin on that attempt. Cannon tries to clinch but Martin moves out of range. Cannon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Martin paws at him with a jab and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. We've been informed that Cannon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darren Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cannon wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cannon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Cannon throws a one two combo.
Cannon gets caught flat footed, as Martin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Martin passes into half guard. Cannon is breathing heavily. Martin seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Cannon is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
