The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephenson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shamrock throws out the jab.
Shamrock throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stephenson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stephenson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shamrock sprawls and moves away.
Shamrock feints and as Stephenson raises his hands in defense, Shamrock changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Shamrock postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Stephenson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shamrock, into his guard.
Stephenson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shamrock's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shamrock is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stephenson has his hands clasped together but Shamrock extends and breaks Stephenson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Shamrock.
