PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ty Walls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trippy Trigger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ty Walls!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trippy Trigger!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trigger darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Walls wants to control but Trigger is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Trigger controlling the action here.
Walls moves into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trigger content to stall in guard here.
It looks like Trigger might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trigger throwing strikes but missing.
Walls could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Trigger avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Trigger is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Trigger shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Walls is trying to defend but Trigger finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Trigger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walls does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Trigger looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Trigger tries to stand and escape but Walls is controlling the position.
Trigger not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Walls is defending against the submission attempts here by Trigger.
Trigger wants to advance to full mount but Walls doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Trigger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Trigger works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Trigger is working for a submission of some sort.
Trigger not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Walls trying to hold on to Trigger's head to control him but Trigger postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trigger is keen to just control but Walls is a slippery customer.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trippy Trigger dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Trigger shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Trigger showed some decent athleticism there.
Trigger wants to stand up but Walls manages to regain full guard.
Trigger is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Trigger stopping the sweep attempt from Walls.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trigger wants to stand but Walls has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Trigger controls from within his opponent's guard.

Walls working for a triangle but Trigger defends it easily.
Trigger throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Trigger lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Walls backs up against the cage.


It looks like Ty Walls has been cut.

Trigger darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Walls looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Walls might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trigger stalling away here and it's allowed Walls to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Trigger trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Walls escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trigger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Walls is pulling down on Trigger's head. It's preventing any offense from Trigger, at least for the moment.
Trigger postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Trigger throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Walls looks for a takedown but Trigger sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Trigger drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Trigger looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Trigger wants to stand but Walls is controlling his arm.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trigger is putting a hurting on Walls here, landing some big shots from side control.
Trigger controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trippy Trigger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ty Walls's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Walls fails in his attempt to clinch.

Trigger clinches.
Trigger misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Walls.

Trigger is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Walls can't fight it off and eventually Trigger manages to take the fight to the floor. Walls looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Walls is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Trigger defends well.
Trigger landing with the ground and pound.
Trigger wanted to stand there but Walls had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Walls gets caught flat footed, as Trigger shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Trigger trying to control the position from guard on top but Walls is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trigger is in close to Walls's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Trigger trying to move into half guard but instead Walls has managed to sweep!

Trigger pulls Walls in close to prevent any damage.
Trigger controls Walls momentarily but Walls frees himself.
Walls throws a big right hand that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trigger keeping moving, preventing Walls from controlling successfully.

Walls avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trigger takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Trigger looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Trigger looking to control but Walls passes into half guard.
Walls not doing much here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Trigger wants to control but Walls is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Walls thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Walls is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Walls throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Trigger throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Walls counters with a right hand to the body.
Ty Walls has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Trippy Trigger is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Trigger closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Trippy Trigger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Trigger has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
