Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Dos Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Jefferson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paulo Dos Anjos! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Jefferson with that takedown attempt. Jefferson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Dos Anjos drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dos Anjos decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Jefferson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dos Anjos to the mat! Dos Anjos manages to get full guard. Jefferson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jefferson wants to control from the top but Dos Anjos keeps moving. Dos Anjos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jefferson manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jefferson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Jefferson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dos Anjos is one step ahead there. Jefferson is breathing heavily. Jefferson looking for subs off his back but Dos Anjos has passed one foot through into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Dos Anjos is thwarting Jefferson's attempts to control the position. Jefferson is looking to improve his position.
Dos Anjos has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jefferson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos is landing with some decent strikes but Jefferson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jefferson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jefferson is squirming around, avoiding Dos Anjos's attempts to control the action. Jefferson bucks up and throws Dos Anjos to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Dos Anjos fails with the takedown and Jefferson counters with a shoot takedown. Dos Anjos fights it but they end up in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jefferson trying to control the position from guard on top but Dos Anjos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jefferson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dos Anjos swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jefferson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Dos Anjos is looking to stand back up but Jefferson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Dos Anjos. Dos Anjos is not content to let Jefferson control the position. Jefferson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dos Anjos's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jeff Jefferson will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Dos Anjos misses with a hook. Jefferson ducked under it nicely. Jefferson shoots in and bounces Dos Anjos off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jefferson trying to control the position from guard on top but Dos Anjos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dos Anjos manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round. Jefferson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Dos Anjos wants to pass to mount but Jefferson is defending the position. Jefferson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jefferson manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jefferson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jefferson trying to keep a closed guard but Dos Anjos is proving a slippery customer.
Jefferson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Dos Anjos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jefferson to the mat! Jefferson manages to get full guard. Dos Anjos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jefferson's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dos Anjos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Dos Anjos postures up.

Dos Anjos throws a leg kick but Jefferson sees it coming and moves out of range. Paulo Dos Anjos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jefferson forces Dos Anjos back against the cage and clinches. Jefferson tries for a takedown but Dos Anjos manages to get underhooks.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jefferson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Dos Anjos doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jefferson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jefferson prevents Dos Anjos from improving his position. Dos Anjos has a hand on Jefferson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Jefferson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Jefferson wants to take Dos Anjos's back but he can't do it this time. Dos Anjos taking shots to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Jefferson dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Jefferson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Jeff Jefferson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jefferson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Dos Anjos as he works his way to full guard.

Jefferson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jefferson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jefferson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Jefferson gets to his feet - Dos Anjos follows without any prompting. Dos Anjos chopping away at his opponent's legs.

But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jefferson, into his guard. Jefferson trying to keep a closed guard but Dos Anjos is proving a slippery customer.

Jeff Jefferson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jefferson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Jefferson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dos Anjos keeping control of the position.

Dos Anjos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jefferson is working away from the top position though. Paulo Dos Anjos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jefferson is taking a breather. Dos Anjos says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jeff Jefferson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jefferson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
