PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Ka Bong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimura comes to the cage accompanied by Seek and Destroy . Bong has chosen ULTRAMAGNETIC MCs - Ego Trippin as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, El Ka Bong!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Ron Honeybunn.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bong paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bong enables Kimura to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bong manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bong wants to sweep here but Kimura controlling him for the moment.
Bong trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Kimura thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kimura drops back looking for a leg! Bong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bong manages to kick Kimura off! Kimura jumps back into Bong's guard.
Bong tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kimura passes Bong's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bong wants to control but Kimura is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kimura prevents Bong from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bong is pressing down on Kimura's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kimura is in close to Bong's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Bong working for a triangle but Kimura defends it easily.

Kimura drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kimura has Bong in his guard.

Kimura seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bong throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bong is pushing down on Kimura's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kimura is fighting to maintain full guard but Bong has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bong wants to take a breather but Kimura is having none of it.

Kimura is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bong pulls his head out easily.
Kimura has hold of Bong's hands but Bong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Bong is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kimura doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bong.

Bong winds up and cracks Kimura with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bong trying to control from half guard but Kimura is working away.
Bong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kimura keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Bong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kimura is looking to escape.

Bong tries to control but Kimura wriggling away.
Bong landing punches.
Kimura is controlling an arm, preventing Bong from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Kimura bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Bong not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kimura is one step ahead there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but El Ka Bong will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Kimura counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Bong falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!

A relieved looking Joe Kimura thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
