Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antti Kantola! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Riccardo Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kantola darts in and clinches Rodriguez up against the cage. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Kantola manages to pull guard.
Rodriguez trying to control but Kantola is working from the bottom. Kantola looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kantola is pulling down on Rodriguez's head to control his posture. Kantola being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kantola is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kantola is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rodriguez defends it well. Rodriguez makes his way to full guard, as Kantola worked for a kimura.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kantola postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rodriguez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kantola, into his guard.
Kantola is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Rodriguez has his hands clasped together but Kantola extends and breaks Rodriguez's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kantola.
