Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yogg Saron! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter George! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saron scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. George looking for submissions off his back. Saron stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. George doesn't succeed with the takedown and Saron counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. George is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Saron trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. George isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Saron stacks George on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Saron! George is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Saron is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. George knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. George sneaks back into half guard. George looks gassed! George throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
George actively working from the bottom here. Saron is working for a kimura but George is defending it quite comfortably.
George looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Saron wants to take a breather but George is having none of it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Saron works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. A slapping leg kick lands for Saron.
Yogg Saron seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saron instigates a clinch. Saron tries for a takedown. No joy.
George keeps control of Saron as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. George is trying to drag Saron to the mat but Saron just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Saron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saron feints and then cracks George's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow George down. Saron misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
George swats away the attempt to clinch by Saron. Saron tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but George paws at him with a jab and circles away. Saron misses with a double jab.
George rushes Saron and presses him up against the cage. Saron gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from George.
Yogg Saron has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter George. Good body shot from Saron.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Saron has George pushed against the cage. George wants to break free but Saron has control.
Saron has George pushed against the cage. George is pressed up against the cage. Saron has hold of a leg and is looking to drag George down to the mat. George avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Saron wants to clinch. A big left from Saron misses. George shoots and misses and Saron moves into the clinch. George gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Saron regains guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Saron looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yogg Saron dominated that round. The cut man is working on Yogg Saron's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Saron tries to keep at a distance but George has taken the fight into the clinch. Saron tries to break the clinch but George is controlling the position. Saron has clasped his hands together around George's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. George sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. George is looking to control Saron's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can George avoid being mounted? George gets back to full guard.
George working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Saron doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but George is tightening it up a little... Saron has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Saron reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Saron taps out! nice BJJ there by George!
