Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Raul Mendez! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez gets in close and instigates a clinch. Giancana tries to work over Mendez's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Giancana letting Mendez take a breather here. Giancana digs a right hand into Mendez's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mendez's gas tank. Mendez blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Giancana tries to circle away but Mendez has him pinned against the cage. Mendez tries to score a body lock takedown but Giancana shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Giancana lands a shot to the body. Still in the clinch, Giancana scores with a nice short uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Giancana. Mendez looks winded! Mendez's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Mendez wants to take the fight to the mat but Giancana manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Mendez blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Giancana misses with a short punch on the inside. Mendez takes a shot to the head. Giancana tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mendez's elbow. Giancana tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Giancana tries a body shot but Mendez blocks it.

Giancana makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Mendez tries for a takedown but Giancana manages to get underhooks.
Sam Giancana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raul Mendez. Giancana doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mendez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Giancana.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Giancana pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Giancana scores with the left hand. Mendez knows he should have avoided that one. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Giancana!
It looks like Raul Mendez has been cut. Giancana fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Giancana cracks Mendez with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Mendez tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Giancana pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Mendez is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Giancana!
