Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carl Sheppards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rapen Murder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carl Sheppards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rapen Murder! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sheppards lands a two punch combo.
Sheppards connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Sheppards shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Sheppards drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Murder manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sheppards has Murder in his guard. Murder throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sheppards works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sheppards looking for a sweep. Not yet Sheppards, not yet. Sheppards controlling the position. Murder looking to sit in guard and control but Sheppards gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Murder not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sheppards tries to free his leg and advance position but Murder is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sheppards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sheppards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sheppards trying to control but Murder is working from the bottom. Murder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sheppards is one step ahead there. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Murder keeping moving, preventing Sheppards from controlling successfully. Murder had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sheppards defends it easily. Sheppards stands and throws Murder's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murder gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Sheppards is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Murder to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Murder shrugs it off. Sheppards looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Murder keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Sheppards wants to control the action but instead Murder gets a body lock and reverses into Sheppards's guard! Nice work! Sheppards manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Murder manages to get himself to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheppards trying to control the position from guard on top but Murder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sheppards pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Murder is keeping the position for now. You can't force these things though and Sheppards defends well. Sheppards advances to half guard. Sheppards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Murder actively working from the bottom here. Murder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sheppards is pressing down on Murder's thigh, looking to free his foot. Murder is holding on for now. Sheppards seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Murder is trying to maintain the position but Sheppards is very close to passing his half guard. Sheppards moves into full mount! Murder won't be happy about that! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheppards scores with a jab. Murder uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sheppards. Murder tries a quick counter leg kick but Sheppards is wise to it. Sheppards fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Murder manages to avoid it. Carl Sheppards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murder showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sheppards.
Sheppards misses with a jab to the body
and Sheppards takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sheppards lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Murder circles away quickly and effectively. A nice side step and Murder releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Sheppards throws a body punch but Murder moves out of range. Sheppards throws a hook but Murder avoids it easily. Sheppards swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Murder.
That's one minute gone in the round. Decent striking displayed by Sheppards there. Sheppards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Murder can do to turn this around? Sheppards looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Murder throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sheppards scores with a nice right hand.
Murder shoots in and drives through. Sheppards sprawls well. Sheppards drops down looking for a counter takedown but Murder sprawls and moves away. Murder moves away from the strike by Sheppards. Murder cracks Sheppards with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. A big right from Sheppards misses. Carl Sheppards is winning the standup battle so far. Sheppards fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sheppards listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A combination from Sheppards does no damage. Sheppards goes for a double leg but Murder avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Murder continues to drive forward. Sheppards is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Sheppards doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. A jab from Sheppards does it's job there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sheppards misses with a looping right. The fighters circling - Sheppards throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Murder throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murder comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Sheppards will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Murder connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Sheppards is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. A shot to the body from Sheppards misses letting Murder counter with a right hand. Sheppards scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Murder misses with a hook. Sheppards ducked under it nicely. Murder dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nice uppercut there from Murder. Sheppards misses with an uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheppards fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Murder drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Sheppards defends it well. Sheppards takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sheppards misses with a body punch
and Murder connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Murder with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sheppards to score with a decent uppercut. A big left from Sheppards misses. Murder moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Sheppards is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Good standup being displayed there by Sheppards as he connects with a hook. Sheppards cracks Murder with a good jab. Murder has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Sheppards ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Murder moves away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A jab from Sheppards misses. A jab lands there for Sheppards. Murder uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sheppards. Murder wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Sheppards throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Murder ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sheppards drives through with a takedown into Murder's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Murder looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Murder has his foot on Sheppards's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sheppards works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheppards stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Murder swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sheppards wants to control from the top but Murder keeps moving. Murder has momentary wrist control but Sheppards slips an elbow through the middle. Murder has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sheppards is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Murder. Sheppards is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Murder is trying to control Sheppards's posture but Sheppards avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Murder tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sheppards wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Murder manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Sheppards moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Carl Sheppards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murder postures up.
Sheppards is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Murder is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheppards tries to land a sweep but no joy. Murder pushing down on Sheppards's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sheppards is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Murder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Murder's back! Sheppards is hanging on to Murder's back as he tries to escape.
Murder is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sheppards is persistently looking for the submission but Murder is defending it well.
Murder rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Sheppards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Murder does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sheppards tries to pass the half guard into mount. Murder knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Sheppards is working for a submission of some sort.

Carl Sheppards clearly takes that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A combination from Murder does no damage. It looked like Sheppards was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Murder. Murder takes a swing at Sheppards's ribcage but misses. Nice straight punches there by Murder. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Murder. Sheppards blocks a jab. Sheppards misses with a wild body shot. Murder let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Murder uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sheppards. Murder drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Sheppards defends it well. Murder takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Well, with Murder on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Sheppards is tapping out... Can he escape the position? It's a sloppy attempt though and Sheppards jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Murder trying to control but Sheppards is working from the bottom. Rapen Murder has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Carl Sheppards is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sheppards looking for a sweep. Not yet Sheppards, not yet. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sheppards keeping moving, preventing Murder from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Murder throws a body shot but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round.
