Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, JJ Bush! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Manny Harris! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris tries to close the distance and clinch but Bush swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Harris fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Harris closes the distance and lands a one-two. Bush attempts a counter takedown but Harris avoids it well and moves away. Harris closes the distance and clinches. A head punch blocked on the inside by Harris. Harris misses with a body punch.
Bush has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Harris is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Harris breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Harris tries to clinch but fails miserably and Bush counters with a nice double leg into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bush trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Harris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bush gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Harris tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bush engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Bush forces his way into half guard. Bush prevents Harris from improving his position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bush in particular looking to stall. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bush lands a nice short elbow. Bush winds up and cracks Harris with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Bush content to control rather than advance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bush frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Bush lands a couple of good shots and Harris has given up his back, trying to escape the position! I really don't envy Harris right now.
Bush lands shots from the back. Bush controlling from the back. Bush has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bush sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Harris taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). JJ Bush! Our winner, JJ Bush, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
