The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wheeler misses with a wild combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gates is defended easily by Wheeler.
Gates shoots in but Wheeler avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wheeler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wheeler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Wheeler!

It looks like Alfonzo Gates has been cut.
Wheeler throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gates counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

The fighters circle momentarily. Wheeler darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
