Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buster Cherry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cherry's entrance music is Irigy Hónaljmirigy - Rúgj Chuck Norris (Chuck Norris parody by Hungarians). A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 28 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mateus Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cherry just misses with a punch to the body.
Cherry fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gracie manages to avoid it.
Gracie throws out a leg kick but Cherry moves out of range and Gracie only half commits.
Cherry is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gracie.

It looks like Buster Cherry has been cut.
Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cherry.
Cherry misses the jab.
Gracie swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Cherry fails in his attempt to clinch.

Cherry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cherry lands in his opponent's guard.
Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cherry bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gracie's guard.

Gracie has his foot on Cherry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cherry works his way back into a safe position though.

Cherry is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cherry is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gracie has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gracie!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cherry wants to hit a switch here but Gracie passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cherry there!
Cherry is in all sorts of trouble here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cherry displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gracie throws out the jab.
Gracie takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Cherry misses with a combination
and Gracie counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cherry is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Cherry shoots in and gets a takedown into Gracie's guard.
Cherry is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gracie has his foot on Cherry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cherry works his way back into a safe position though.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cherry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Cherry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cherry looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cherry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie wants to control but Cherry is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Cherry works his foot free and advances to mount.

Cherry goes for an armbar but Gracie turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gracie.

Buster Cherry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gracie connects with a couple of short punches.
Gracie pushes down on Cherry's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gracie in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cherry is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Cherry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Cherry utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gracie goes for a double leg but Cherry avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cherry continues to drive forward.
Gracie lands with a thumping leg kick.

Cherry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cherry lands in his opponent's guard.

Cherry drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cherry has Gracie in his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Buster Cherry will probably get the nod.

That's time! Cherry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cherry looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cherry connects with a body shot that sends Gracie's belly button to the back.
Cherry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gracie as he jumps to the side.
Cherry throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Buster Cherry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cherry changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gracie fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gracie tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Cherry avoids nicely.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Cherry shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cherry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cherry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Cherry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mateus Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gracie forces his way into half guard.
Gracie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cherry is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cherry tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gracie controlling the position easily from mount.
Gracie tries to control but Cherry wriggling away.
Cherry is looking to get to half guard.
Buster Cherry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cherry tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cherry is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cherry sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cherry keeps working.
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cherry's head.
