PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Brooka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Stallings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Brooka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Stallings!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stallings dives in and grabs Brooka's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brooka pushes down on Stallings's head and hops out.

Brooka instigates a clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Brooka as Stallings tries to tie him up.
Stallings can't get the takedown.
Brooka tries to pull guard but Stallings won't allow it.
Brooka gets underhooks to prevent Stallings's takedown attempt.
Steve Brooka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Stallings.
Brooka tries to break the clinch but Stallings is controlling the position.
Brooka looking to throw knees to the head but Stallings is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooka tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stallings just stands there and leans against the cage.

Stallings jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brooka walks away with a smile on his face. Stallings gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Stallings darts in looking for a takedown but Brooka gets double underhooks and turns Stallings into the cage.

Brooka looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Brooka wants to free his trapped foot but Stallings is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Stallings is looking to improve his position.
It looks like Brooka is going to stand back up.
We've been hearing that Brooka has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Brooka tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stallings knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Stallings tries to kick Brooka off but Brooka keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Stallings is trying to get back to full guard.
Stallings is looking to control Brooka's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stallings avoid being mounted?

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Stallings swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Stallings tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stallings jabs Brooka to the body, keeping him at a distance.

No luck for Stallings with that takedown attempt.
Stallings tries to clinch but Brooka moves out of range.

Brooka shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stallings is trying to defend but Brooka finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Stallings is trying to maintain the position but Brooka is very close to passing his half guard.
Stallings tries to roll over but Brooka keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brooka is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stallings is pressing down on Brooka's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Brooka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stallings on the ground.
Brooka wants to pass the guard but Stallings is keeping the position.
Stallings looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brooka is one step ahead there.
Brooka is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brooka has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stallings shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brooka pinned against the cage. Brooka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brooka tries to counter with a takedown but Stallings is quick to defend against it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Brooka is defended easily by Stallings.
Stallings lands a head shot.


It looks like Steve Brooka has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brooka wants it to stay on the feet.
Stallings is looking to clinch.

Brooka closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brooka in particular looking to stall.

Brooka stops Stallings from getting back to his feet.
Brooka is taking a breather. Stallings says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brooka tries to stand but can't do so whilst Stallings controls his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brooka keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Stallings has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brooka is working away from the top position though.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Stallings tries for a takedown but Brooka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
It looked like Brooka was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Steve Brooka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Stallings.
Brooka shoots in for a double leg but Stallings sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Brooka shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stallings as he jumps to the side.
Stallings misses with a head kick.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stallings doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Brooka counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stallings looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stallings lands a left and a right that send Brooka crashing to the mat, dazed. Stallings thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Stallings fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stallings blocks a head kick by Brooka.
Brooka doesn't manage to clinch there - Stallings circles away.
Steve Brooka is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stallings throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Brooka stumbling backwards into the cage! Brooka bounces back off the cage towards Stallings, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Stallings lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Stallings celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Daniel Stallings!
