The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Louis scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Snabel doesn't seem bothered though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Louis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Louis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Louis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Louis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Snabel seems to have got his legs back now.
Snabel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Louis on the ground.
Louis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Snabel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

A head kick by Snabel misses
and Louis counters with a left and a right that hurts Snabel! He wobbles and falls to the floor - he's in big trouble! Louis jumps into full mount!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Louis softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Snabel is out cold! Louis jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

During a confident post fight interview, Joe Louis thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
