Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Bundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Bundy will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ruben Gilbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Bundy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bundy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gilbert to the mat! Gilbert manages to get full guard.

Bundy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gilbert has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bundy has managed to get both his arms back between Gilbert's legs - danger averted.
Bundy tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilbert is retaining full guard.

Bundy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gilbert, up you get!
Bundy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gilbert defends well and Bundy ends up having to push Gilbert into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Gilbert is looking to counter the offense by Bundy and move into the clinch.
Gilbert walks forward, straight into a front kick from Bundy.

Gilbert gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gilbert is looking for a triangle here but Bundy uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Bundy scores with a couple of short elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bundy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gilbert keeps working.

Bundy stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bundy has his takedown stuffed
and Gilbert counters with a nice uppercut.
Bundy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gilbert tries to avoid it but Bundy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gilbert to the ground. Gilbert escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ruben Gilbert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Bundy.
Bundy tries to bum rush Gilbert with a series of wild strikes but Gilbert uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Good exchange - Gilbert coming out on top.
Gilbert wants to slow Bundy down by chopping away at his legs.
Bundy feints the counter takedown.

Bundy gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Bundy creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gilbert's defenses.


It looks like Ruben Gilbert has been cut.

Gilbert is leaning against Bundy and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Bundy keeps control of Gilbert as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Bundy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gilbert's guard.


Gilbert had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bundy defends it easily.
Gilbert is breathing heavily.

Gilbert working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bundy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bundy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bundy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gilbert really is a fat lump.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bundy moves out of range of the strikes.
Bundy unleashes a big counter combination but Gilbert bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Bundy looks for a takedown but Gilbert sprawls well.
Gilbert wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Bundy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Gilbert is trying to stand but he's just given Bundy his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Bundy.

Bundy has the hooks in. Gilbert is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Gilbert might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bundy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gilbert, up you get!

Good leg kick by Bundy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gilbert shoots for a double leg takedown but Bundy sprawls well. He's pushed Gilbert's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bundy moves into the clinch.

Bundy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gilbert uses from the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bundy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Gilbert is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Bundy has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Gilbert is looking to defend but Bundy has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Gilbert! Bundy pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Gilbert taps out and this one is all over!
