Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Smoosh Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hirohito Sato! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sato is fending him off so far but Jackson persists. Nope, Sato circles away and we're back to standing. Sato is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Jackson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Sato lands with a kick to the ribs.
Jackson has managed to clinch.
A knee to the head by Sato.
It looks like Smoosh Jackson has been cut. A hook to the body from Sato.
Sato lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Sato gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jackson.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Sato. Sato lands an elbow just above Jackson 's eye. Sato tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jackson's elbow. Sato lands a nice elbow. Jackson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jackson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sato uses from the top position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jackson keeping moving, preventing Sato from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sato might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson keeping full guard, as Sato tries to pass. Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sato is one step ahead there. Sato trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sato throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jackson on the side of the head. No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smoosh Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sato throws a nice inside leg kick. Sato tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sato sprawls well. Sato wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Sato fails in his attempt to clinch. Jackson appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Jackson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jackson shoots in but Sato avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jackson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sato scores with a push kick. Sato connects with a high kick. Jackson shoots in but no luck this time. Jackson sets himself, and Sato steps forward looking for the clinch! Jackson avoids it this time. Jackson is breathing heavily. Sato throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Sato has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Jackson fails with the takedown. Sato tries to counter with a clinch but Jackson shakes him off and moves away. Sato bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Sato wants to counter the offense by Jackson and move into the clinch position. Sato lands a high kick!
Sato thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Jackson if he has to take too many more of those.
Sato tries to clinch up. Sato tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance. Sato turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sato throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson fails to land the takedown. Sato wants to clinch. Jackson looks for a takedown but Sato sprawls well. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Sato - that will leave a mark!
Nice body punch from Sato. Nice sprawl there from Sato as Jackson shoots in. Sato wants to counter with a clinch but Jackson pushes him away. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Jackson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sato - the referee stops the clock and Jackson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sato. Jackson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sato but Sato pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sato wants to counter with a clinch but Jackson pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hirohito Sato dominated that round. The cut man is working on Smoosh Jackson's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

Sato stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sato wants it to stay on the feet. Sato plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Jackson dives in for a single leg takedown but Sato sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Smoosh Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sato lands a brutal head kick. Jackson looks out on his feet and Sato throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Hirohito Sato! Hirohito Sato tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
