Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wes Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barton comes to the cage accompanied by Linchpin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wes Barton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brent Carter! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barton wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance. Barton buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Barton tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range. Barton shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Wes Barton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barton misses with the combination.
Carter checks a leg kick. Carter is looking to clinch. Barton feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Carter's calf. Carter avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Carter gets the takedown into side control. Carter tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Barton is trying to get back to half guard. Barton is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Carter is nestled in close to Barton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Carter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Barton's head. Barton trying to control from the bottom.
Carter thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Barton to regain full guard. Carter looking to pass the guard. Barton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carter is controlling him. Carter postures up in Barton's guard and throws a big left but Barton blocks it. Barton is trying to keep Carter in close.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barton throws a half hearted mid kick. Barton pivots, looking for a leg kick but Carter is out of range and Barton settles back down. Carter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Barton throws a hook but Carter avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Barton lands a head kick!
It looks like Brent Carter has been cut. Carter clinches with his opponent.
A left hand lands to the body for Carter.
Carter blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Carter wants a takedown but no success here.

Barton pushes off an throws an elbow but Carter leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Barton lands a right hand. Carter tries to work over Barton's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Barton looking to throw knees to the head but Carter is blocking nicely.
Carter is working for takedown but Barton is calmly controlling the position for now. Carter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Barton backwards. Carter tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Barton misses with a knee to the head. Carter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Wes Barton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brent Carter. Carter pushes Barton back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Barton digs a right hand into Carter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carter's gas tank. Carter lands with a left to the head. Barton lands with a right to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter can't find room to land a body shot as Barton controls the action.

Carter works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Carter works on Barton's body with a couple of short punches. Carter lands a nice shot to the body. Carter working some nice short punches in the clinch. Barton throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Carter blocks it with crossed arms. Barton landing knees to the body.

Barton throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Barton tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Carter has hold of one of Barton's legs. Barton is fighting the takedown attempt but Carter gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Carter preventing the sweep. Carter postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Barton pulls Carter in close to prevent any damage. Barton is trying to keep Carter in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barton wants to stand but Carter is controlling the position. Carter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Barton lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Carter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Barton paws at him with a jab and circles away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carter has closed the distance and engaged Barton in a clinch.

Barton pushes off an throws an elbow but Carter leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Wes Barton will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Brent Carter's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Barton tries to clinch up and Carter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Barton won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carter is chipping away with strikes.
Barton wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Barton is trying to get back to half guard. Barton looks to move to half guard but instead Carter has passed into mount! Damn! Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Barton sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Barton tries to roll over but Carter keeps him under control. Barton looks like he's trying to stand up.

Carter winds up and cracks Barton with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Carter trying to mount his opponent but Barton defends it. Barton looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Carter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Barton! Carter lands with some strikes. Carter has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Barton's face.
Carter throws some wild stikes that Barton manages to avoid easily.
Barton tries to hold on but Carter pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barton working to try and regain half guard.
Carter connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Carter cracks Barton with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Barton scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Carter land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Carter stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brent Carter!
