Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Granville Hines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josef Nils (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Josef Nils has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Granville Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Josef Nils!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nils throws a right and a left that Hines avoids nicely.
Hines seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Nils shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hines won't allow Nils to pass to mount.
Hines wants to control but Nils is keeping busy.
Nils perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hines tries to get to full guard but Nils has control of the leg.

Nils is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nils works his way into side control.
Nils wants to stand but Hines is controlling his arm.

Nils decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hines takes one on the chin but seems OK.


It looks like Granville Hines has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nils gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Nils escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nils blocks a head kick by Hines.
Nils dives in and grabs Hines's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hines pushes down on Nils's head and hops out.
Hines went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Nils clinches up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nils just misses with a elbow thrown towards Hines's brow.

Hines manages to pull guard.
Hines is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nils content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hines might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hines has his foot on Nils's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nils works his way back into a safe position though.
Hines could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Nils seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nils accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nils is looking to work some ground and pound but Hines has wrist control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Nils stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hines swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nils shoots in for a takedown but Hines shows good takedown defense.
Josef Nils seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hines avoids the head kick by Nils.
Hines tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nils manages to circle out of the way.

Nils throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hines was covering up waiting for the punch and Nils finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nils wants to get up but he can't break Hines's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nils is stalling in the full guard.
Nils wants to control from the top but Hines keeps moving.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hines wants to stand up but Nils is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nils tries to clinch but Hines moves out of range.
Hines appears to be looking for a big counter.

Nils has closed the distance and engaged Hines in a clinch.

Hines manages to pull guard.
Nils passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Nils just content to control the position.
Hines tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nils wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nils working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Nils is trying to get an arm triangle but Hines is defending well.

Nils has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Nils's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hines is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nils connects with a decent elbow.
Hines struggling a bit here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nils fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hines avoids it really well and circles away.
Hines tries to counter by clinching up but Nils breaks away and moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josef Nils showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nils dives in for a single leg takedown but Hines sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hines tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Nils manages to circle out of the way.
Nils has a takedown stuffed.
Nils fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hines avoids it really well and circles away.
Granville Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josef Nils.

Nils seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hines does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hines has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nils is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nils is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Hines can't escape the position.
Nils tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Nils looking to secure an arm triangle but Hines defends it well.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Nils. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Nils wants to control the pace but Hines is squirming around nicely.
Nils misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Nils takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nils throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Nils throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Hines knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nils on the ground.
Nils unloads with some shots from mount but Hines bucks and avoids them well.
Nils wants to control the pace but Hines is squirming around nicely.
Nils putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Granville Hines has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Josef Nils is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hines tries to reverse the position but Nils maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Josef Nils comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Nils winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
