Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lapu Gatmaitan!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatmaitan wants to clinch up but Cantrell keeps it at a distance.
Gatmaitan throws a head kick but Cantrell moves out of range.
Gatmaitan tries to land a body kick
and Cantrell counters with a series of strikes. Gatmaitan will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gatmaitan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cantrell went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Gatmaitan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cantrell swivels and escapes.
Gatmaitan misses with a jab to the body
and Cantrell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gatmaitan thinking.
Gatmaitan fails with the takedown.
Gatmaitan darts in trying to clinch
and Cantrell counters with a one-two to the body.
Cantrell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gatmaitan is looking for a sweep. Cantrell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gatmaitan regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gatmaitan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cantrell is one step ahead there.
Gatmaitan is still trying to improve position.
Cantrell postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gatmaitan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cantrell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gatmaitan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cantrell manages to get himself to full guard.

Cantrell wants to control but Gatmaitan postures up.
Cantrell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gatmaitan is trying to get an arm triangle but Cantrell is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gatmaitan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Cantrell!
Cantrell has given up his back here. Will Gatmaitan look for the submission or keep pounding away?
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gatmaitan is working for a rear naked choke. Cantrell is not defending it well and Gatmaitan has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Cantrell refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Cantrell's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Lapu Gatmaitan!
