Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
29 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Marsh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Pablo Blanco! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blanco avoids the body shot from Marsh.
Blanco buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Good standup being displayed there by Marsh as he connects with a hook. Marsh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Blanco avoids it really well and circles away. Marsh looks to throw the jab but Blanco is out of range. Blanco misses with an uppercut. Marsh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Blanco trying to hold on to Marsh's head to control him but Marsh postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marsh wants to pass the guard but Blanco is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blanco wants to get back to full guard. Marsh is looking for a kimura here.
Marsh thows a huge punch but Blanco dodges it nicely.
Marsh not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Blanco tries to get to full guard but Marsh has control of the leg. Marsh throwing shots but Blanco is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Marsh thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Blanco on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Blanco has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marsh is working away from the top position though. Marsh content to control rather than advance. Marsh throwing shots but Blanco is blocking nicely. Marsh thows a huge punch but Blanco dodges it nicely.
Marsh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blanco defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Blanco avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Marsh. Marsh missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Blanco has his hands clasped together around Marsh's back. He's all about the action.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Marsh closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Blanco trying to hold on to Marsh's head to control him but Marsh postures up.
Marsh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Marsh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Blanco's head. Blanco is refusing to be controlled, as Marsh sits in half guard. Marsh throws a strike but Blanco avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marsh trying to control the position from guard on top but Blanco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marsh missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Blanco has momentary wrist control but Marsh slips an elbow through the middle. Blanco avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Marsh trying to control but Blanco is working from the bottom. Marsh is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Blanco is trying to keep Marsh in close.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Randy Marsh dominated that round. That's time! Marsh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Marsh swings and misses with a shot to the body and Blanco cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. No luck with that takedown attempt from Marsh. Marsh closes the distance and clinches up with Blanco, looking for a takedown. Marsh pushes Blanco against the cage but Blanco circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Blanco appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Marsh misses with a takedown and Blanco counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Marsh. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marsh loads up on a big right hand but Blanco slips the punch. Marsh takes a swing at Blanco's ribcage but misses. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Blanco.
Blanco fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Marsh misses its intended target. Marsh wants to clinch. Marsh dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marsh jabs at Blanco's body. Blanco moves out of range as Marsh strikes. Blanco needs to keep his hands up - Marsh had a free shot at his head there. Marsh with a lazy takedown attempt and Blanco counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Blanco thows a left - swing and a miss! Blanco throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Marsh stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Blanco keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Marsh. Blanco looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Marsh tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blanco swivels and escapes. Marsh backing away here, and Blanco unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Marsh avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Marsh changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Blanco lands a high kick!
Marsh is rocked!
It looks like Randy Marsh has been cut. Marsh misses with an uppercut
and Blanco counters with a huge left! Marsh is in big trouble! He's backing up but Blanco isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Marsh from any more damage. A dominating finish by Blanco!
