Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Gerald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kong comes to the cage accompanied by Evil Scotsman. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gerald decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Kong tries to get to full guard but Gerald has control of the leg. Kong wants to get back to his feet. Kong trying to control here.
Kong is trying to get back to full guard. Gerald throwing shots but Kong is blocking nicely. Gerald wants to work for an arm triangle but Kong is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are battling for position here. Kong manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Kong looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gerald is one step ahead there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gerald throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kong's waist but Kong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gerald off to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gerald tries to clinch up but Kong circles away and keeps his distance. Gerald clinches. Gerald wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Kong turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kong manages to end up in side control. Gerald tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Kong easily slips into full mount! Kong takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gerald is looking to escape. Kong looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kong is in the full mount, landing strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kong can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gerald is looking to escape. Gerald taking shots to the head. Kong tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Kong is breathing heavily. Gerald is in all sorts of trouble here.

Gerald manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kong's guard. Nice work there by Gerald.
Gerald wants to pass the guard but Kong is keeping the position. Kong trying to keep a closed guard but Gerald is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gerald pushing down on Kong's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Gerald is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kong slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerald circles away from the clinch attempt and Gerald holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kong lands an uppercut. Kong tries to score a body lock takedown but Gerald shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Gerald has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Kong scores a nice knee to the body.
Kong gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kong postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Gerald to stand up. Gerald scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gerald tries for a kimura but Kong is defending well. Gerald wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kong keeps working. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gerald tries for a kimura but Kong is defending well. Gerald wants to control but Kong is keeping him busy. Gerald misses with the ground and pound. Kong gets back to half guard. Gerald is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Gerald moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kong has worked his arm free - good work by Kong!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kong can't do much from the bottom here. Gerald working the ground and pound. Gerald working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gerald misses with the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kong is trying to get back to half guard. Kong is not content to let Gerald control the position. Gerald is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kong tries to improve position but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. You can see the frustration on Kong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gerald tries to advance to mount but Kong denies him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A slapping leg kick lands for Kong.
Gerald darts in trying to clinch and Kong counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kong working Gerald over with strikes. Gerald works his way to full guard. Good work. Kong trying to control but Gerald is working from the bottom. Kong advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Kong dominated that second round. That's time! Kong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!
Kong closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gerald to the mat! Gerald manages to get full guard. Kong slips nicely into half guard. Kong stops Gerald from getting back to his feet.
Gerald is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gerald regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kong. Gerald looking for a guillotine here but Kong defends easily.
Kong advances to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gerald is staying active underneath Kong, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Paul Kong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gerald tries to get to full guard but Kong has control of the leg. Gerald has hold of Kong's hands but Kong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Gerald trying to hold on to Kong's head to control him but Kong postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gerald wants to control but Kong is keeping busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kong throws a combination that misses and Gerald counters with a two punch combo. Gerald tries to clinch there but Kong circles away.

Kong has his takedown stuffed so Gerald counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kong throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Gerald is looking to work some ground and pound but Kong has wrist control. Gerald looking to pass the guard. Kong not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gerald wants to control from the top but Kong keeps moving. Kong trying to control the position.
Gerald controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Kong wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gerald tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kong counters with a single leg into guard. Gerald didn't expect that. Gerald pulls Kong in close to prevent any damage. Paul Kong is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gerald looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kong is one step ahead there. Gerald is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kong is controlling him. Kong slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Paul Gerald has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gerald throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Kong showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kong, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
