Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Goss!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lao Shin!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goss throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Shin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Alex Goss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shin tries to close the distance and clinch but Goss swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
An attempted straight right counter from Goss misses the target.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Goss definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Shin gets underhooks to prevent Goss's takedown attempt.
Shin taking a breather.
Goss is working for takedown but Shin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Goss has Shin pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Shin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Goss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shin prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goss jumps guard but Shin stands there with Goss around his waist. Goss gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Shin.

Shin lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Goss backwards.
Shin lands an uppercut.
Shin scores with a shoulder strike.

Shin works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Shin lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Goss or not.
Goss is breathing heavily.
Goss is looking to take this one to the mat.
Goss takes a shot to the head.
Shin lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Shin lands an elbow inside that Goss shrugs off.
Shin digs a right hand into Goss's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Goss's gas tank.
Shin trying to stall but Goss improves his position.
Goss wants a takedown but no success here.
Goss tries for a takedown but Shin manages to get underhooks.
Goss takes an elbow to the temple.
Shin stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Shin lands a damaging elbow.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Shin looking to throw knees to the head but Goss is blocking nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Shin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Shin gets underhooks to prevent Goss's takedown attempt.
Shin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Goss is working for takedown but Shin is calmly controlling the position for now.

A short body shot lands from Shin as the two fighters clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Shin.
Goss tries to pull guard but Shin holds him up against the ropes and eventually Goss drops back down to his feet.
Shin lands with a short shot to the head.
Shin softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.
Shin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


Goss is rocked!


It looks like Alex Goss has been cut.
Shin lands an uppercut.
Oh Goss is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Goss is pressed against the ropes. Shin pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Goss! Two more big strikes from Shin and Goss crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Lao Shin!
Lao Shin is the new welterweight champion!
A very excited looking Lao Shin made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
