Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Neal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kendal Thomas! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas tries to clinch but Neal moves away and Neal counters with a takedown into side control. Neal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Thomas is trying to get back to half guard. Thomas is trying to control Neal's posture but Neal avoids it. The strikes coming from Neal are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Thomas is looking for a sweep. Thomas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Thomas controlling the position for now. Neal thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Thomas's head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thomas is trying to stand.
Neal lands with a punch from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Neal not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Thomas trying to control but Neal postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neal trying to control the action but Thomas is working from the bottom. Thomas is trying to get back to full guard. Neal thows a huge punch but Thomas dodges it nicely.
Neal thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Nice strikes from Neal there. Thomas looking for submissions off his back. Thomas is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Neal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Neal blocks the strikes from Thomas.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Thomas darts in and clinches Neal up against the cage. Thomas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Thomas is looking to clinch but Neal is avoiding it.
Thomas throws a series of punches but Neal moves out of range. Thomas tries for a takedown but Neal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Thomas wants to clinch. Neal drops down looking for a counter takedown but Thomas sprawls and moves away. Thomas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thomas controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Thomas stops Neal from standing up. Neal is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Neal wants a takedown but no success here.
Neal scores with a shot to the side of Thomas's head. Neal misses with an elbow strike.
Thomas blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Thomas manages to break the clinch.
Thomas darts in looking for a takedown but Neal gets double underhooks and turns Thomas into the cage. Neal seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thomas closes the distance and clinches up with Neal, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes Neal against the cage but Neal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Tim Neal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendal Thomas. Neal tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thomas defends well and Neal ends up having to push Thomas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Neal avoids a punch combination nicely.
Thomas looks winded! Neal is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thomas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Neal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Neal slaps away a takedown attempt from Thomas, before circling back to the center of the mat. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thomas throws a head kick that misses. Neal closes the distance and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Neal dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Thomas moves in looking to clinch but Neal pushes him off. Thomas lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Thomas wants to clinch. Neal closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thomas circles away. Neal doesn't manage to clinch there - Thomas circles away.
Neal tries to land a front kick but Thomas steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Neal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thomas closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Neal quickly recovers to half guard. Neal is not content to let Thomas control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Thomas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Thomas stops Neal from getting back to his feet.
Thomas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Neal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Neal wants to get back to his feet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Thomas slips a nice elbow through Neal's hands, connecting with Neal's forehead. Thomas escapes and gets back to his feet. Neal throws a series of punches but Thomas moves out of range. Thomas lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Neal can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Thomas and Neal drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Thomas.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kendal Thomas!
