The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villarreal throws out a loose jab but Taktarov uses good head movement to avoid it.

Taktarov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Taktarov stops Villarreal from getting back to his feet.
Taktarov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Villarreal keeps working.
Villarreal manages to get to full guard.
Villarreal throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Villarreal is looking to stand up but Taktarov isn't so interested in that idea.
Villarreal utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taktarov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Villarreal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Villarreal wants to get back to his feet but Taktarov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Villarreal is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Taktarov dives into side control.
Villarreal tries to buck Taktarov off but Taktarov is having none of it.

Taktarov is working to tighten his grip on Villarreal's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Villarreal has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Taktarov is really squeezing tight and eventually Villarreal passes out! Taktarov breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
