Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Keiji Kawada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabricio Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Keiji Kawada has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Keiji Kawada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fabricio Carvalho! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carvalho tries to clinch but Kawada is having none of it. Carvalho throws a right hand that Kawada ducks under and follows up with a left that Kawada also avoids with ease. Kawada wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Kawada dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Carvalho drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kawada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carvalho is one step ahead there. Kawada is working hard here to advance position. Carvalho missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kawada looking for a sweep. Not yet Kawada, not yet. Kawada is trying to control the position but Carvalho postures up. Carvalho avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawada is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kawada wants to sweep here but Carvalho controlling him for the moment. Kawada is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carvalho controls from within his opponent's guard. Kawada is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carvalho is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Carvalho trying to control the position from guard on top but Kawada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Kawada is trying to control the position but Carvalho postures up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kawada looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carvalho is fending him off so far but Kawada persists. Nope, Carvalho circles away and we're back to standing. Carvalho misses with a looping right. Carvalho stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carvalho wants it to stay on the feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Carvalho enables Kawada to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carvalho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Carvalho is wriggling around but Kawada manages to pass to half guard.
Kawada is keen to just control but Carvalho is a slippery customer. Carvalho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawada trying to control but Carvalho is working from the bottom. Kawada sitting in guard here, content to control. Kawada wants to pass the guard but Carvalho is keeping the position. Carvalho keeping moving, preventing Kawada from controlling successfully. We've been hearing that Kawada has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Carvalho working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kawada. Kawada trying to control but Carvalho is working from the bottom. Kawada tries to free his leg and advance position but Carvalho is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Carvalho wants to stand but Kawada is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kawada shoots in and drives through. Carvalho sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keiji Kawada. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carvalho tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kawada swivels and escapes. Kawada has a takedown stuffed. Horrible takedown attempt by Carvalho or perhaps it was just good defense by Kawada, which made it look bad. Kawada shoots and misses and Carvalho counters with a left and a right that stings Kawada. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kawada shoots in looking for a takedown. Carvalho tries to sprawl out of it but Kawada keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carvalho manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Carvalho is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Fabricio Carvalho will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Carvalho throws a hook to the side of Kawada's head but Kawada sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Kawada slips under a jab from Carvalho. Kawada wants to clinch. Carvalho is looking to clinch. Kawada is looking to counter the offense by Carvalho and move into the clinch. Kawada lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Fabricio Carvalho has been cut. Carvalho looks to land a combination but Kawada avoids it well. Kawada moves in looking to clinch but Carvalho pushes him off. Carvalho gets tackled into the cage by Kawada. Kawada maintains the clinch. Kawada leaning against his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kawada ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kawada no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Carvalho must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carvalho trying to control the position from guard on top but Kawada is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kawada wants to stand up but Carvalho is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carvalho throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kawada striking off his back but it's not causing Carvalho any problems. Carvalho wants to control from the top but Kawada keeps moving. Kawada trying to keep a closed guard but Carvalho is proving a slippery customer.
Kawada pushes a forearm under Carvalho's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Carvalho is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Keiji Kawada! After winning the bout, Keiji Kawada thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
