The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Iowa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Iowa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mata keeping moving, preventing Iowa from controlling successfully. Mata escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Iowa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Iowa looking to pass the guard. Mata pushes a forearm under Iowa's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Iowa is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
