Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Meguru Takayanagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Wibowo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Meguru Takayanagi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Wibowo! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wibowo shoots in and gets a takedown into Takayanagi's guard. Wibowo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wibowo pushing down on Takayanagi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Wibowo is looking for a kimura but Takayanagi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wibowo to get the leverage. Takayanagi trying to control but Wibowo postures up.
Wibowo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Takayanagi sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takayanagi is refusing to be controlled, as Wibowo sits in half guard. Wibowo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Takayanagi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wibowo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takayanagi is trying to get back to full guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wibowo working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Wibowo is trying to control. Takayanagi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Takayanagi wants to get back to full guard. Wibowo trying to control from half guard but Takayanagi is working away. Takayanagi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wibowo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wibowo's back! The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Takayanagi's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Takayanagi actively working from the bottom here. Takayanagi is trying to maintain the position but Wibowo is very close to passing his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wibowo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wibowo throwing shots but Takayanagi is blocking nicely. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Takayanagi flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That kick from Wibowo tenderised Takayanagi's leg. Takayanagi is trying to keep his angry face on. Wibowo slaps away a takedown attempt from Takayanagi, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wibowo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Takayanagi defends it nicely. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Takayanagi has a takedown stuffed. Wibowo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wibowo looks like he wants to counter punch here. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Meguru Takayanagi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wibowo looks to throw the jab but Takayanagi is out of range. Takayanagi has his takedown stuffed and Wibowo counters with a straight punch to the midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takayanagi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Takayanagi wants it to stay on the feet. Wibowo looks to land a right hand but Takayanagi moved out of range. Takayanagi is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wibowo. Wibowo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Wibowo scores with a jab to the body. Takayanagi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wibowo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Takayanagi sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Takayanagi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wibowo napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wibowo is looking to reverse the position. Takayanagi looks up at the clock and then as Wibowo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Takayanagi smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Wibowo can't do much from the bottom here. Wibowo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Takayanagi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Takayanagi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wibowo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Takayanagi creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Takayanagi sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Wibowo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Meguru Takayanagi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wibowo is looking for a sweep. Wibowo wants to control but Takayanagi postures up. That's four minutes gone in the round. Wibowo is trying to stick to Takayanagi's back but Takayanagi is turning into Wibowo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wibowo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Takayanagi. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wibowo trying to control the position.

Wibowo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Takayanagi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Wibowo avoids the attempt from Takayanagi to control. Wibowo cracks Takayanagi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Wibowo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Takayanagi is surviving well by controlling Wibowo's body position as best he can. Takayanagi throwing hammer fists to the chest of Wibowo. What's that going to do exactly? This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wibowo landing strikes, looking to finish! Takayanagi is trying desperately to improve position. Wibowo lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Takayanagi hang on? Takayanagi is wriggling around trying to escape.

Wibowo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Takayanagi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wibowo seems to be working for a kimura but Takayanagi defends the submission attempt. Takayanagi tries to roll over but Wibowo keeps him under control. Wibowo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Takayanagi is just riding it out for now. Wibowo eventually gives up the hold. Meguru Takayanagi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've been hearing good reports from Takayanagi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Wibowo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Wibowo is trying to work for a kimura but Takayanagi is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight! Kevin Wibowo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wibowo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
