Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Gregory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Crazy Train as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Gregory! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Smith! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gregory connects with a body shot. Smith lands a nice leg kick that just misses Gregory's sensitive parts. Gregory throws a lazy uppercut
and Smith counters with a series of strikes. Gregory will be more careful next time no doubt. Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gregory listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Gregory misses with a few strikes there.
Gregory sets himself, and Smith steps forward looking for the clinch! Gregory avoids it this time. Gregory fails with a takedown attempt. Gregory throws a leg kick and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith. Smith lands with a light punch inside. Smith throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gregory blocks it with crossed arms. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gregory on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Smith lands an elbow that stopped Gregory in his tracks for a moment. Smith lands a hook to the side of the head. Smith tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Smith trying to stall but Gregory improves his position.

It looks like Joe Gregory has been cut. Smith has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Gregory seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Smith can turn it around. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gregory takes a knee to the side of the body. Smith lands a right hand. Oh Gregory is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. A head punch blocked on the inside by Gregory. Gregory pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gregory moves out of range as Smith strikes. Gregory swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Gregory shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. Smith lands with a kick to the ribs.
Gregory ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away. Gregory lands a jab to the nose. Peter Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smith throws a nice looking combination but Gregory bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Smith has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Gregory swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.

Smith looks like he wants to counter punch here. A head kick misses from Smith. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Smith connects with a jab. Gregory throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Smith throws out a counter right but Gregory avoids it with no problem. Gregory shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Smith looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Peter Smith dominated that round. The cut man is working on Joe Gregory's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gregory to score an easy takedown into full guard. Smith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gregory controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gregory stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smith keeping moving, preventing Gregory from controlling successfully. Gregory slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Smith is not content to let Gregory control the position. Smith tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gregory wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well. Smith is not content to let Gregory control the position. Smith tries to bench press Gregory off him but Gregory keeps the position. Gregory tries to advance to mount but Smith denies him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gregory goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Smith has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gregory but great work by Smith. Smith working the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gregory tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Smith wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Smith working the body and head with strikes. Smith gets to mount! Gregory was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Gregory wants to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Smith is in the full mount, landing strikes. Gregory is bucking up trying to escape but Smith cracks him with another couple of good strikes. We've been hearing good reports from Gregory's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Joe Gregory overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith looking to finish Gregory with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gregory! Smith working away from the top, dropping strikes. Gregory is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Smith cracks Gregory with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
