Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ogono Reas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Basilio Yago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ogono Reas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Basilio Yago!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
No luck for Reas with that takedown attempt.
Reas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Reas circles away from the clinch attempt

and Reas counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Yago blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Yago breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reas looks for a takedown but Yago sprawls well.

Yago gets underhooks to prevent Reas's takedown attempt.
Yago comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Yago connects with a knee to the head.
Reas avoiding damage as Yago throws knees to the body.

Reas tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Yago wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reas has him pressed against the cage.
Yago is looking to control Reas's arms but Reas gets an underhook and turns him. Now Yago has his back to the cage.

Yago breaks from the clinch.
A combination from Reas does no damage.
Yago rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ogono Reas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yago lands a nice leg kick that just misses Reas's sensitive parts.

and Yago counters by clinching up.

Yago tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Yago can't break the clinch.
Reas is working for takedown but Yago is calmly controlling the position for now.
Reas fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Yago pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yago fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reas sprawls well initially but Yago persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reas is breathing heavily.
Reas tries to roll over but Yago keeps him under control.
Reas is staying active underneath Yago, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Reas is looking to control Yago's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reas avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reas is trying to get back to full guard.

Reas won't allow Yago to pass to mount.

Reas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Yago pulls his head out easily.
Yago tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yago has managed to clinch.
Reas is trying to break the clinch but Yago has him pressed against the cage.
Yago on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Yago landing knees to the head.
Reas trying to stall but Yago improves his position.
Yago crunches a lovely knee into Reas's ribcage.

Reas takes a knee right on the jaw!
Yago lands a knee to the body.
Yago slows down the pace here.
Yago throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Reas blocks it with crossed arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Basilio Yago dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Yago counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Yago wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Reas has him pressed against the cage.
Yago blocks an elbow strike.
Reas misses with the head strike.
Yago tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Yago breaks from the clinch.
Reas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Reas has his takedown stuffed

and Yago counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Reas is looking for a sweep. Yago is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Yago content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Yago wants to take a breather but Reas is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yago prevents Reas from improving his position.
Yago takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yago is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Yago prevents Reas from standing back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Yago moves into the clinch successfully.
Yago throws a knee to the head but misses.
Reas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Yago is keeping busy.

Reas has clasped his hands together around Yago's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Reas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Reas laying and praying for a moment but Yago takes advantage and regains half guard.

Reas throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Reas passes to side control.
The strikes coming from Reas are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Yago tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Reas presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Reas wants to control the pace but Yago is squirming around nicely.
Reas is trying to take his opponent's back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reas throwing strikes here but Yago is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Basilio Yago showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Reas tries to escape but Yago is in control.
Reas wants to control but Yago postures up.
Yago looks up at the clock and then as Reas takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Yago smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Yago wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reas keeps working.
Yago controlling from side mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reas tries to bench press Yago off him but Yago keeps the position.
Yago cracks Reas with a big right hand but Reas just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Reas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Yago taking a breather here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Yago not doing much here.
Yago prevents Reas from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yago prevents Reas from standing back up.
Yago seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Reas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Reas holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Reas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Yago preventing the sweep.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Yago controls the pace.

Reas working for a triangle but Yago defends it easily.
Reas is trying to keep Yago in close.

Basilio Yago comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Yago has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
