Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chong Zhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomas Kalnoky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zhu kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Meet Gazoo. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chong Zhu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tomas Kalnoky! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! An inside leg kick lands from Zhu. Kalnoky takes a kick to the side of the head. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Zhu.
Zhu ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Zhu tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Kalnoky shoots in for a double leg but Zhu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Both fighters circling a little - Zhu finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Zhu scoring well with a low kick there.
A left lands for Zhu. Zhu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kalnoky looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. This has been an exciting period of action! Zhu cracks Kalnoky with a good jab. Horrible takedown attempt by Kalnoky or perhaps it was just good defense by Zhu, which made it look bad. A little feinted left hand from Zhu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Jab, jab by Zhu - just one landing. Kalnoky fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Chong Zhu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomas Kalnoky. Zhu tries to sprawl but Kalnoky drives through with a takedown into half guard. Kalnoky is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zhu is not content to let Kalnoky control the position. Zhu keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kalnoky is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zhu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kalnoky. Zhu is trying to get back to full guard. Kalnoky trying to control the action but Zhu is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kalnoky controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Zhu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kalnoky is working away from the top position though. Kalnoky is keen to just control but Zhu is a slippery customer. Kalnoky is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Zhu defends it well. Zhu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kalnoky controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalnoky works his way into side control. Zhu stops Kalnoky from passing to mount. Kalnoky trying to control the position but Zhu is working away. Kalnoky is trying to get an arm triangle but Zhu is defending well. Zhu sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Zhu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kalnoky is working away from the top position though. Zhu is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kalnoky is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Zhu is trying to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zhu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kalnoky is working away from the top position though. Zhu is looking for a sweep. Kalnoky is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kalnoky is looking to take a break and control but Zhu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kalnoky thows a huge punch but Zhu dodges it nicely.
Zhu tries to get to full guard but Kalnoky has control of the leg. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kalnoky is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Zhu! Kalnoky fails to take his opponent's back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chong Zhu dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Zhu stuffs the takedown attempt from Kalnoky. Kalnoky gets slowly back to his feet. Kalnoky looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Chong Zhu is winning the standup battle so far. Zhu looks for the body kick but Kalnoky saw that one coming. Zhu thuds a left hand into Kalnoky's body. Kalnoky tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Zhu defends well and Kalnoky ends up having to push Zhu into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Tomas Kalnoky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kalnoky shoots in looking for a takedown. Zhu tries to sprawl out of it but Kalnoky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zhu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Chong Zhu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomas Kalnoky. A punch lands to the side of Kalnoky 's head but he takes it in his stride. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kalnoky dives in for a single leg takedown but Zhu sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Kalnoky gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Zhu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Horrible takedown attempt by Kalnoky or perhaps it was just good defense by Zhu, which made it look bad. Kalnoky closes the distance and clinches up with Zhu, looking for a takedown. Kalnoky pushes Zhu against the cage but Zhu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Kalnoky is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zhu lands a nice shot to the body.
Chong Zhu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Zhu scores with a nice body kick.
Zhu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Kalnoky chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Zhu can pounce on him.
Zhu's corner calls for a 1-2. Zhu obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Kalnoky looks for a takedown but Zhu sprawls well. Zhu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kalnoky can do to turn this around? Kalnoky shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zhu sprawls well. Zhu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kalnoky gets slowly back to his feet. Good standup being displayed there by Zhu as he connects with a hook. Zhu throws a head kick that misses. Kalnoky shoots in looking for a takedown but Zhu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kalnoky's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Zhu works Kalnoky's body with a nice hook. Kalnoky doesn't succeed with the takedown and Zhu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zhu thuds a left hand into Kalnoky's body. Kalnoky shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zhu sprawls well. Zhu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kalnoky gets slowly back to his feet. Kalnoky walks into a jab. Kalnoky takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Kalnoky takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Kalnoky fails with a takedown attempt. Kalnoky has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Zhu. Zhu throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kalnoky. Zhu slaps away a takedown attempt from Kalnoky, before circling back to the center of the mat. Zhu feinted there with a counter leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zhu scores with a nice right hand.
Zhu lands a really nice looking cross but Kalnoky seems unphased.
Kalnoky is rocked! Zhu lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Kalnoky falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Chong Zhu! Chong Zhu gave a mention to Fury Nutrition Inc. in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
