PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sick Puppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sick Puppy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 3, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy White!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by White.
White throws an off balance right hand
and Puppy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Puppy misses with an uppercut.
Puppy scores with a nice head shot.
White ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Puppy moves away.
Puppy on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Puppy misses with a hook to the body
and White counters with a head kick.
Puppy throws a lazy uppercut
and White counters with a nice uppercut.
White looks to land a left hand but Puppy moved out of range nicely.
White closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White misses with a looping left.
Puppy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract White.
White tries a quick counter leg kick but Puppy is wise to it.

White lands with a slapping head kick.

Puppy closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Puppy pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Puppy avoids a kick to the body.
White avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Puppy throws a right hand that White ducks under and follows up with a left that White also avoids with ease.
Nice defenses there by White.
Puppy takes a kick to the side of the head.
Puppy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and White counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Puppy blocks a head kick by White.
Oh Puppy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
White throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Puppy seems to have got his legs back now.
White misses with an attempted mid kick.

White tries to land a front kick but Puppy steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Puppy is looking to counter the offense by White and move into the clinch.

Puppy looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
White throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fighters circling - Puppy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Puppy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. White avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
White gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Puppy.

Puppy has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but White regains guard immediately.

White looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Freddy White is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and White counters with a left to the body.
Puppy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
White avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

White throws a sloppy head kick

White throws a low kick but Puppy avoids it.

Sick Puppy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puppy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Freddy White will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


White lands with a kick to the ribs.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.
White lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
White thows a left - swing and a miss!
Puppy loads up on a big right hand but White slips the punch.
A clash of legs there as White blocks the low kick.
White throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Puppy with a nice cross.
White moves out of range as Puppy strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Puppy shoots in and bounces White off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

White wants to stand but Puppy is controlling the position.
Puppy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as White works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Puppy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
White keeping moving, preventing Puppy from controlling successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

White takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Puppy postures up in White's guard and throws a big left but White blocks it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if White can do anything to dispel that myth.
White wants to stand and escape but Puppy is having none of it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Puppy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
White misses with a low kick.
Puppy scores with a crisp jab that stopped White in his tracks.
White takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
White moves away from the strike by Puppy.
Puppy lands with a shot to the body.
Puppy scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Puppy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Puppy avoids the head kick by White.
Puppy appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Puppy lands a slapping body shot.
Nice defenses there by White.

Puppy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching White on his heels. He'll look to pass White's guard now, I'm sure.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
White throws a leg kick but Puppy sees it coming and checks it nicely.
As White backs away, Puppy returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Puppy dives in for a single leg takedown but White sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Puppy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
White takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Puppy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but White moves away.
White throws a big counter head kick but Puppy avoids it with no problem.

White circles away from the clinch attempt.
White throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Puppy is looking for a counter combo.

Puppy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by White.

White throws a sloppy head kick and Puppy moves out of range easily.
Puppy thuds his right hand into White's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

White lands a nice shot that snaps Puppy's head back.
Nice defenses there by White.
Puppy misses with a few strikes there.
White lands a head kick. Puppy smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Puppy motions for White to come forward. Puppy throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
White jabs Puppy right on the nose. Puppy blinks but takes it well.

White connects with a body shot that sends Puppy's belly button to the back.
White throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
White has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
White feints and then cracks Puppy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Puppy down.
White on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Puppy. Puppy obviously looking to wear him down.
White lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Puppy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Puppy shoots in but White avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A little jabbing left from White on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sick Puppy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White throws a leg kick

Puppy misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sick Puppy.
I think Puppy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
