The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy throws a series of punches but Veruca moves out of range.
Murphy misses with an uppercut.
Veruca scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Veruca trying to control the action but Murphy is working from the bottom.
Murphy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Veruca wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Veruca wants to lay and pray for a moment but Murphy keeps working.
Veruca wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murphy, who protects the arm well.
Veruca is looking to take a break and control but Murphy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Murphy pushes Veruca away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Veruca gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Veruca throws a body punch but Murphy moves out of range.
Murphy misses with a series of wild punches.

and Veruca counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Veruca jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Murphy manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Murphy wants to control but Veruca postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Veruca looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Murphy is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Murphy is letting Veruca control him for a moment.

Murphy wants to control but Veruca postures up.
Veruca takes a little break here. Murphy wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Veruca's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Murphy tries to escape but Veruca is in control.
Veruca is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murphy has escaped the position, nice work there.

Veruca tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

You can see the frustration on Murphy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Veruca has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Murphy is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Veruca yanks on the arm and Murphy is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Veruca.
