Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Bo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Bo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martin Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cruz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cruz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bo dives on top into guard.

Bo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cruz for as long as he can get away with.

Cruz fails with the takedown.
Bo misses with a straight left.
Bo lands a nice shot to the body.
Bo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bo throws a lazy right hand but Cruz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bo punishes Cruz's body with a nice straight punch.
Cruz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Jim Bo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Cruz.

Bo throws an overhand right that lands on Cruz's shoulder, as Cruz tries to avoid the shot.
Bo darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Cruz takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Cruz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Cruz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Cruz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Cruz slips a straight right by Bo.
Bo missing with a left hand there. Cruz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Bo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Bo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cruz throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bo escapes and throws Cruz's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bo postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Bo is looking to take a break and control but Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cruz tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bo throws a solid leg kick but Cruz takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Bo.
