Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chip Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rallo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chip Gibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rallo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gibbs enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gibbs manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gibbs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gibbs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gibbs!

Gracie tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Gracie is looking to reverse the position.

Gibbs tries for a kimura but Gracie is defending well.
Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gibbs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie keeps trying to improve his position.
Gibbs scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gracie to see if he's OK.
Gracie parries the strikes from Gibbs easily there. Gibbs is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gracie to escape.

Gracie tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gibbs presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Gracie prevents Gibbs from taking his back.
Gracie is trying to escape the mount.
Gibbs lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Gracie hang on?

Gibbs working for a submission but Gracie is keeping him at bay.
Gibbs seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Gracie is holding on tight.

Gracie manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gracie is looking for a sweep. Gibbs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gibbs lands strikes from half guard.

Gibbs is trying to work for a kimura but Gracie is defending well.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie tries to get to full guard but Gibbs has control of the leg.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gibbs advances position into side control!
Gibbs is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chip Gibbs dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gibbs misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Gibbs defends it well.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gracie checks a leg kick.

Gibbs gets caught flat footed, as Gracie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gracie wants to stand and escape but instead Gibbs has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Gibbs trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.

Gracie wants to stand but Gibbs is controlling his posture from full guard.

Gibbs kicks Gracie off and gets to his feet.
Gibbs misses with a few strikes there.
We've been told by Gibbs's head coaches at Brown House that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Chip Gibbs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gracie gets a double leg takedown into Gibbs's guard.
Gracie preventing the sweep.
Gracie throwing strikes but missing.
Gibbs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gracie can do to turn this around?

Gibbs is looking to cinch up a triangle. Gracie throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Gibbs's body to avoid the submission. Gibbs has instead reached around Gracie's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Gibbs arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
