Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stu Hart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Sachel! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sachel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hart but Hart pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sachel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Stu Hart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hart clinches up against the cage. Hart pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hart clinches up against the cage. Hart escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sachel shoots in and drives through. Hart sprawls well. Stu Hart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Sachel. Sachel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hart swivels and escapes.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Sachel wants a takedown.
Sachel tries to pull guard but Hart won't allow it.
Hart lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sachel closes the distance but Hart moves to the side and Hart counters by moving into the clinch. Hart escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hart works the jab nicely.
It looks like Jason Sachel has been cut. Hart darts in trying to clinch and Sachel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sachel.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sachel drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hart manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sachel has Hart in his guard. Sachel looks gassed! Hart working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Hart has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hart throwing strikes but missing. Hart postures up in Sachel's guard and throws a big left but Sachel blocks it. Sachel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hart is posturing up here but Sachel has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Hart tries to roll out but it's too tight and Hart has to tap! Slick submission there by Sachel!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jason Sachel!
