Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Erik Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Direction (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Erik Andersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Juan Direction!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andersen missing with a left hand there. Direction was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Direction throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Andersen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Andersen moves in looking to clinch but Direction pushes him off.
Direction misses with a jab to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Andersen blocks a jab.
Direction throws a body shot but no joy.
Direction misses with a body shot.
Direction moves out of range of the strikes.
Direction pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Andersen throws a body shot but no joy.
Andersen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Andersen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Direction has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Andersen pushes Direction up against the cage in a clinch.
Andersen creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Direction's defenses.
Andersen pushes Direction back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Andersen working Direction over with knees to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A nice glancing elbow lands by Andersen.


It looks like Juan Direction has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Direction throws a punch but it's blocked by Andersen.
Andersen landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Andersen has picked Direction up - he's going for a ride! Andersen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Andersen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Andersen is trying to control. Direction wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Andersen seems to be working for a kimura but Direction defends the submission attempt.
Andersen is looking to take a break and control but Direction is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Andersen moves into full mount! Direction won't be happy about that!
Andersen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Andersen scoring with strikes but Direction is staying in there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Andersen with shots to the head and body - Direction looks very uncomfortable down there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Direction can do anything to dispel that myth.

Andersen moves to take his opponent's back.

Andersen looking for the choke but no joy.

Andersen working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Direction is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Andersen has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Direction taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jon Erik Andersen!
After winning the bout, Jon Erik Andersen thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
