PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Slade Tynin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reno Delgado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Reno Delgado was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Slade Tynin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reno Delgado!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Tynin misses.
Tynin missing with a left hand there. Delgado was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Delgado displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tynin throws out the jab.
Tynin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Delgado darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Delgado decides to stand and escape the position.
Tynin throws a nice looking combination but Delgado bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tynin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Delgado counters with a shoot takedown. Tynin fights it but they end up in guard.

Delgado must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Delgado stands up and waves to Tynin to follow him.

and Delgado counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Delgado tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Delgado has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tynin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tynin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Delgado is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tynin defends it well.
Tynin tries to get to full guard but Delgado has control of the leg.
Delgado passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tynin!

Delgado stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Tynin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Delgado gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Tynin misses with an uppercut. Delgado saw that one coming.
Delgado bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Delgado staying out of range there.

and Delgado decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tynin's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tynin is looking for a triangle but Delgado pushes his legs off easily.
Tynin is breathing heavily.

Delgado drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Delgado jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tynin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Delgado wants to stand but Tynin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Tynin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Delgado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Tynin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Delgado is one step ahead there.
Tynin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Delgado really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tynin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Delgado's face.
BOOM! Tynin connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reno Delgado dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tynin wants to sweep here but Delgado controlling him for the moment.
Reno Delgado has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tynin trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Tynin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Tynin postures up and lands a big shot to Delgado's brow.

Delgado working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tynin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tynin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Delgado tries to bench press Tynin off him but Tynin keeps the position.

Tynin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Delgado is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tynin tries for a kimura but Delgado is defending well.
Delgado tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tynin working the head and body with strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tynin is working Delgado over with some ground and pound from side control.
Tynin is putting a hurting on Delgado here, landing some big shots from side control.
Delgado is looking for a sweep.
Tynin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Delgado!
Tynin lands with some strikes.

Tynin working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Delgado turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Tynin off and cradles Delgado's limp body as Tynin celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Slade Tynin!
