PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dark Lotus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Carter as Lotus shoots in.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Carter! But no joy.
Lotus misses with a few strikes there.
Carter with the counter takedown but Lotus avoids it easily.

Carter pushes Lotus up against the cage in a clinch.
Carter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lotus fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Carter throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Lotus tries a head kick but it misses.
Carter wants to counter the offense by Lotus and move into the clinch position.

Lotus shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Despite the aggression on Carter's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Carter throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Carter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lotus did well to prevent Carter getting side control.
Carter seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Lotus is trying to stand back up but Carter is controlling him
Carter is keen to just control but Lotus is a slippery customer.

Carter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lotus keeps working.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Lotus rushes Carter and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Carter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dark Lotus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Carter.

Carter jumps guard and drags Lotus to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Carter wants to sweep but no luck.

Lotus forces his way into half guard.
Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lotus is working away from the top position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carter is staying active underneath Lotus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kimbo Carter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Carter stuffs the takedown attempt from Lotus. Lotus gets slowly back to his feet.

Carter drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lotus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lotus had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carter defends it easily.

Carter distracts Lotus with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Carter throwing strikes but missing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Carter. No joy for Lotus on that attempt.
Lotus goes for a double leg but Carter avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carter continues to drive forward.
Carter drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lotus defends it well.

Lotus tries to kick Carter off but Carter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Carter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lotus is just riding it out for now. Carter eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kimbo Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Carter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lotus's guard.

Carter is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Lotus has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Carter is looking to defend but Lotus has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Carter! Lotus pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Carter taps out and this one is all over!
