Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Valentine Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Agapit Blondi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Agapit Blondi!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xavier fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blondi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Xavier with a body shot.
Xavier decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blondi moves into full guard.
Blondi keeping moving, preventing Xavier from controlling successfully.
Blondi is trying to keep Xavier in close.
Xavier wants to control from the top but Blondi keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Blondi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Xavier manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Blondi stands up over Xavier, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Blondi wants to pass the guard but Xavier is keeping the position.
Xavier is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Blondi defends well.
Blondi is stalling in the full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Blondi fails with the takedown
and Xavier holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Blondi is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Xavier is defending well.
Xavier is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Blondi decides to pull guard.

Blondi decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Xavier, up you get!
Xavier shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blondi pinned against the cage. Blondi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Blondi shoots in for a double leg but Xavier sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Valentine Xavier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Agapit Blondi.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Blondi is looking to clinch but Xavier is avoiding it.
Xavier tries to counter with a takedown but Blondi is quick to defend against it.
Xavier closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Blondi quickly recovers to half guard.
Blondi tries to kick Xavier off but Xavier keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Xavier dives in for a single leg takedown but Blondi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Blondi pushes Xavier back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Xavier is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Blondi is defending well.
Xavier stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Xavier really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Blondi is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Blondi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Xavier has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Blondi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Xavier has Blondi pressed against the cage, preventing Blondi from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Xavier is defending well against a takedown attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Xavier prevents the takedown attempt.
Blondi tries to score a body lock takedown but Xavier shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Blondi manages to pull guard.
Blondi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Xavier trying to control the position from guard on top but Blondi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Blondi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Xavier pushes down on Blondi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Xavier stops Blondi from getting back to his feet.

Xavier is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Blondi tries to get to full guard but Xavier has control of the leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blondi is refusing to be controlled, as Xavier sits in half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Blondi throws a wild body kick that Xavier sees coming a mile off.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Xavier.
Xavier has hold of Blondi's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Blondi seems comfortable defending it but Xavier has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Blondi is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Blondi is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Xavier couldn't care less - he's delighted!
